That would be incredible. I mean if we landed Smith, I might even trade back up for Harrison.

Washington's Vita Vea: The next Haloti Ngata?

Both are in the same weight class

The two men possess similar builds coming out of college, as Ngata measured 6-foot-4, 338-pounds when he left Oregon in 2006. Vea is expected to measure approximately 6-foot-4, 340-pounds himself when he officially gets measured at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine. In addition to the rare size, both players possess unnaturally light feet and quickness for someone of their weight which makes them highly coveted NFL draft prospects. Positional versatility

      As a run-defender

      As a pass-rusher

As prospects, Ngata and Vea could both be viewed as capable of generating pass-rush production from different spots along the defensive line. They both won as college pass-rushers with a devastating bull-rush to collapse the pocket. They both also used that strong bull-rush to set up a push-pull move when they felt their opponent sinking their weight.

In his rookie season, Ngata contributed three sacks, seven QB hits and 12 hurries on his 389 pass-rush snaps. This past season, Vea racked up three sacks, eight QB hits and 28 hurries on his 273 pass-rush snaps and his pass-rushing productivity rating of 11.0 ranks No. 3 among all FBS draft-eligible defensive tackles. In summary

With similar builds, foot quickness, playing strength, run-defense prowess, ability to generate an interior pass-rush and to line up at different spots on the defensive line, the Haloti Ngata-to-Vita Vea comparison is a fair one. It would be well within reason to expect a similar type of rookie production from Vea as we saw from Ngata in his rookie season in 2007.

Brown was plenty of disciplined, i think with the interior of our dline being weak compared to our ends he simply decided to put in a thumper type mlb, i will be baffled if we take roquan for the simple fact thats hes just as small as brown, we would essentially have 2 ss playing linebacker. Thats the only reason it would surprise me, i mean id still be happy with the pick just alil confused.
as far as interior lineman this year go im not a fan of vita vea as much as other people he reminds me more of danny shelton than ngata. He'd be a good and serviceable nt but i dont see him being athletic enough to run a 4-3 nickel type of defense.
My pick right now is either the Guard or tackle from notre dame, both i would jump for we take the guard and lamp becomes the rt, we take the tackle and he becomes the rt lamp becomes a guard

The Oline is never ok. Keep bringing in the big guys. I agree we need DLine help but Telesco never needs to think the Oline will be fine.

Liuget is only going somewhere if we send him packing.

Fixing the DT is not going to make us a great run D all by itself. The rest of the D has to get better at their run fits and we aren't going to beat anyone unless the tackling is more like the middle of the season then either end.

13 OTs in the first 3 rounds, we should be able to find somebody in there. I'm concerned about how the ratings are all over the place though. Look out for Brian O'Neill, a converted TE with great feet and off the chart athleticism. Certainly would look good as a one year trainee if we could get him in the 3rd.

And my biggest desire - a new ILB. I'm disappointed if we don't get one of these guys.
