I agree about that but not many teams pay for 2 #1 CBs. If Verrett takes #2 money than sure. But still hes as fragile as it they get. And Hayward may end up being one of the highest paid CBs. If you draft James you then have potentially 3. I just think the money could be spent elsewhere.

We have Verrett for another year before a decision has to be made so all of this talk is premature.
we had this same talk about Ingram.
My opinion, you work to keep your talent and take the injury history into account when negotiating contracts.Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

Bama's Fitzpatrick looks to able to play both Safety and CB and has pretty damn good hip turn. King also can play both and we have Micheal Davis hopefully getting better.
I would actually like to trade Verrett now, save some cap space and get a pick for him. He just cant stay healthy.Last edited by Boltjolt; 03-06-2018, 10:54 AM.11 Brock Bowers TE - Georgia

Remember,,,,,i said Verrett for Earl Thomas. lol I dont know how you dont do that trade. The scenario was.....
SS - Derwin James
FS = Earl Thomas
CB - Casey Hayward
CB - Trevor Williams
Slot - Desmond KIng
And James can play CB with Addae at SS.

But why would SEA do that trade? They'd be getting another older guy with a bigger contract coming up for renewal next year. And losing a talented, productive guy for an oft injured, talented guy.
Everything comes down to Verrett being able to stay healthy.Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

As of now, I'm not seeing Derwin James, Edmunds, or Roquan Smith falling to 17. I'd say our top options at 17 will be Payne and Vea, and Hurst, if his health checks out favorably.
As for the secondary, Hayward should get paid (at least $9M per in his next deal), Addae is getting $4M to $5M per, if Boston is retained at $7M to $8M per, and Verrett is at ~$8M for next year, it seems too rich to tie up that much cap in those players. The secondary played pretty well without Verrett last yr, and I think we can find a capable replacement for Boston at a more reasonable salary, if not already on the roster in Jenkins, and the safety position is deep in this draft, too. I hope the biggest emphasis is placed on building up the D line this offseason. A better D line= a better secondary.
If Verrett can be traded, I would definitely do it.
