Yeah the Manziel thing scares me with Mayfield. But hes a better passing QB imo than Manziel. A smarter QB. Can read and react better to defenses while Manziel relied on his WRs often to make him look good and his legs to get out of jams. Mayfeld does most of that with his arm. And his arm is a cannon compared to Manziel's.

It will be interesting to see how teams react to this latest thing with Mayfield. He is going to be the face of some franchise, and he embarrassed his team with a really immature act.
As a football player, He has a somewhat slow delivery and holds the ball way too long. He has good footwork, but it remains to be seen how well he does throwing the ball on time, and getting it out quickly. When I watch him (which hasn't been often), I get the feeling he just watches a receiver waiting for them to get open, rather than go through his reads. He just seems to follow one guy for long periods (his head doesn't move) and only when he is ready to give up on the guy does he go to the next player. Reads are designed to quickly go from player to player in order, so that you can throw the ball based on where the defenders are, not necessarily if the receiver is open yet. If I am reading that right (and I have only seen him play a couple of times) he may have a lot of work to do in that area.
As far as his physical build, you have to worry a bit about a kid as thin in the lower body as an injury concern. He is not very big in the legs and his playing style plus holding the ball so long means he is going to take a lot of hits there. Can he stay healthy there, as his knee injury his freshman year when he was at TTU, might suggest.

No thanks. I agree he holds the ball too long. He is immature as hell and has too many red flags for me. They include: system QB from big 12; questionable size and mediocre arm strength, BIG maturity questions. That adds to too much risk for a first on a guy I do not see having a huge ceiling in the pros.

Right now, we currently have the 11th pick. From the NFL web site:
11. Los Angeles Chargers
Record: 4-6 (.510)
Top needs: OT, QB, NT
The skinny: Forrest Lamp will help solidify the offensive line when he returns from an ACL tear, but a new piece is needed at right tackle. Philip Rivers' future replacement needs to be found. A run-plugging NT would make a talented front even stronger.

Do you think Josh Allen is going to be available in the 3rd? If so, that would be a good pick. Early draft projections don't have him falling that far, though, yet. In looking at the free agent Center position, there look to be a lot of players coming off their first contract that may be available. I'd prefer the top rated C in the draft, who right now is Billy Price out of Ohio St, who could be there in the 2nd round. I'd be ok with a DL in the first round.
