By fired, you mean he was part of the old regimes that were let go?
Also, Pioli is the type of douchebag that walks out 30 year office employees with security escorts. Doesn't prove much.

No. He was hired on Herm's staff as an Assistant OL Coach in 2008 and coached the following season on Todd Haley's staff. He was fired from that staff. Haley was not.

Hes only been on two NFL Teams. And only on the Bills as the OL Coach. He's coached under Chan Gailey for 10 of the last 11 seasons. When the Chiefs fired him Chan hired him as Bills OL coach. When the Bills cleaned house Chan decided to take a break from coaching and SD hired him.

Still nothing says he is widely considered the best OL coach in the NFL.

One article about how well he did with the Bills OL 2 seasons ago. Also ignoring the fact that Chan ran a pistol spread offense which get the ball out of the QBs hand quick. Also ignores that it was the 2nd team he was fired from in 3 seasons.

The other two say nothing about him being widely considered the best OL coach in the NFL. Especially since they are old college articles.

And the last one is a charger fan blog.

We'll see how he does now that Chan Gailey isn't around.
Those articles don't point to the "opposite", now do they?

I seem to recall Hunter being touted as a top O-line coach. I wonder if part of the success of an O-line coach has to do with what players he is coaching in the first place.

Him being fired twice in 3 seasons. Only being an OL coach in the NFL for 3 seasons. And only under a pistol spread offense point to the opposite.

But nothing at all said "widely considered the best OL coach in the NFL". Nothing even close to "considered by a few to be a top tier OL coach"

Other than those 5 seasons with those 2 teams he hasnt even been a pro coach.

Not sure how that somehow = widely considered the best offensive line coach in the NFL?
I heard Haley had all the coaches he fired walked out by security, because he was paranoid about them stealing his playbook.

And the Bills fired all their coaches at the end of last season, which is not unusual among pro teams when a HC is fired.

So it wasn't Pioli it was Haley?

I've read nothing that supports this

Whoever fired him. All I had heard was that they were marching the fired guys to the door to kick them out, which went over badly in coaching circles. Coaches can be fired at anytime and for almost any reason. Everyone who has been in the business has been fired many times, which is pretty draconian considering how many hours most of them work. But mostly, coaches take it pretty well.

There is no way of knowing whether a guy is a top OL coach as an outsider. You have to see the guy in action. If I recall, 2010, KC had a lot of injuries on their OL, and Albert was still making the transition to OT. Buffalo's most noteable accomplishment on OL personnel moves in recent memory is letting their best players leave. In both cases, the teams were forcing him to be a turd polisher.

You just can't get too focused on JUST results. It is a pretty poor way of judging things. If the only thing that matters is results, you doom yourself to making a lot of mistakes over and over again. If you focus on process, it is a lot easier to put things in perspective and be objective, and on improvement. That way you don't throw the baby out with the bath water, which is a big pitfall with being too focused on results. Every highly successful coach I am aware of is not results oriented in their approach. They focus on process, because that is something they can control.
