0805-launch-team-usa-brothel-02Several Team USA hoops stars made a bonehead move in a foreign land -- thinking they were walking into a spa that turned out to be a whorehouse.

DeAndre Jordan, DeMarcus "Boogie" Cousins, DeMar Derozan and possibly 3 other players went out on the town Wednesday night in Rio and strolled into Termas Monte Carlo ... which Rolling Stone called "one of the high end brothels in Rio."

When you call the place, they'll tell you it's a spa that plays music ... and it's just for male customers. Oh, and they have a full bar.

A source close to the team tells us the players got the standard line, so they assumed it was kosher. The source said, "They realized it wasn't the right place for them and immediately left."

As for what happened inside, the players were only seen hanging at the bar. Multiple sources tell us they bought booze ... nothing more.

Not just germs. The Olympics can also further authoritarian regimes goals - see Putin and the Ukraine after the 2014 Sochi winter games - by giving the host country more legitimacy both in the minds of it's own populous and the world at large. Putin's approval rate was declining drastically before the 2014 games. Then he gets a huge bump in post Sochi popularity and uses it to invade the Ukraine. The IOC's priorities don't include human rights or really anything that is best for the people of the world or even its own athletes. It's depressing.

Russia also finished with the most Gold and overall medals in that games, so I'm sure that was an even bigger ego boost. The only real bummer moment I remember seeing on Putin's face was when their hockey team laid a giant egg and didn't even get to the Semifinals.

It was state run doping of their athletes that contributed mightily to those totals.

Are they slumming in the Village? I recall that the Basketball team used to get so much attention they couldn't rest.
