    Spanii...whats it worth to you?

Forbes annual NFL valuations list is out. The Chargers come it at #21 valued at 2.08B. Yes, that's a B as in BILLION. Just thought I'd throw it out there for discussion. Does this change anyone's mind regarding the stadium proposal as it is now?

    The entire list is here:

This came up in the stadium thread. Their value virtually doubled in two years.

I suggested it's a good time for Spanos to sell high and get out.

Spanos' MONEY MAKING model for the team is obviously working. I have contended for a long time that the bottom line is all he cares about.

It really was pretty genius how he got Daddy to buy an NFL team.
Takes care of him & his booger wall of a family for life (the money comes in faster than even he can fuck it up).

Valuation isn't cash. If he turned it into cash, he wouldn't have need for a stadium. Duh.

At that valuation, it is a taxable asset so he's paying in. Other than that, all it is good for is borrowing money against. If you want to pressure him into kicking more in that way, OK. But he and the NFL are already footing the bill for something they will not own (i.e., it will be something WE own...even when the villain Spanos sells) to the tune of 60%.

          Facts. Nettlesome.

Even if he had that kind of cash, he'd ask somebody else to pay for it. Duh.

But for shits and giggles we're assuming this subjective valuation equals fair market value. So the cash selling price would probably be much higher as it would likely sell at a premium.

Are you suggesting Spanos pays tax based on a subjective franchise valuation?

I'm not sure you have your own facts straight.

Depends, in LA no, but he lost a chance to pay for his own stadium to Kroenke. In SD yes. SD is not LA.

100% agree. There are only 32 teams and none for sale. It would sell at a premium.

Could be wrong, but I think the premise is that virtually the entire sales price would be subject to taxation if he were to sell.

I didn't understand the statement how it was worded. But yes, he would pay over his tax basis, which is virtually nothing.

Didn't understand the "duh," either. Guess we shouldn't have bothered to start this thread.

                  No, this thread was informative.
For instance, now I know that forbes.com won't work with my adblocker settings, and Spaniikopita is a Greek pastry pie filled with feta cheese and goat poop.

Rams doubled in value! Shoot, it's not rocket science. Spanos gained that much Value just being "next on the list" to LA.
