When you see threads 2017 FA and 2017 Draft you know the season is over.

            So 2017 FA
The cheap ass Chargers should go all out for Eric Berry-FS KC but we know that will not happen

So they should aggressively try to get Tony Jefferson -SS ARI

Safety is our weakest position on Defense

Not seeing much I like on the shopping list for the O-line which is our weakest position on offense

Luke Joeckel. 2nd pick in the draft. Guard. LOL. What a bad draft that was.

LOL Fluker was the 11th pick that year. Fluker and Joeckel both started at Offensive Tackle and were both underachieve at the position and both moved to guard and neither one is overly impressive there either!

                  From NFL.com... picking 8th currently.

                  8. San Diego Chargers
                  2016 record: 4-6 (.574)
                  Top needs: OT, WR, QB
Analysis: The Chargers have serviceable tackles, but they've been going with "serviceable" for too long. It's time to commit. With another injury to Keenan Allen, San Diego could look to add another option at the position. Philip Rivers is locked in but the team is badly in need of an upgrade behind him on the depth chart.

I can see holding off on WR help. I don't disagree that we need to upgrade the WR play, but Benjamin and Williams are both young and pretty raw. They are OK, but they are still getting better. They need to work their asses off, but they will keep getting better.

OT, not so much. Barksdale is at his physical peak and Dunlap is probably just starting to go downhill. I think Dunlap would be fine at RT, but we need a developmental guy to groom. And we need a real LT now.

We also need some S help. Lowry would be an OK nickle guy, or in the box SS type who can cover some. But if we live with him, we need a top notch guy next to him to help cover up his weaknesses. The rest of the S all show flashes, so they are worth bringing back as camp bodies, but we need real prospects to push them. Then cut the half that don't work out, and we get a couple new starters.

I would also like to see another Hback, TE or flex TE. Henry is another Witten type of inline TE who can do everything pretty well. He will be a good starter, or maybe even a great one. But another type of guy to help draw attention away when Gates retires, we need someone else to helpkeep defenses balanced. Rivers makes a lot of plays to TE. And a new TE would make a nice help to a new QB when Rivers retires.

The WRs even with the injuries are reliable while the OL is not. The OL is pretty shaky right now. It's better than last year but that isn't mean much, since last year pretty much an all time low.

Our WRs, when healthy, are one of the better groups out there, it jammed with #2, #3 guys around Allen.

                      K Allen
                      S Johnson
                      Benjamin
                      T-Will
                      Inman

That's as solid you can get. Inman, Benjamin and T-Will is productive even without Allen and Johnson. They should be even more dangerous when defenses commit to slow down Allen, open up opportunities for them.

And Inman is so underrated it's crazy. All he does is getting open and catch passes. He was quiet in camps and preseasons and always turn it on and produce in the regular season, dating back to his Canada days.

I don't know about the work habit of Benjamin but T-Will should improve like he always does. He has some crazy potential here. Add in an improved Gordon and Henry and a better OL and you have an offense that can put up some monster numbers, historic numbers, an elite, championship offense.

I don't disagree that it is one of the better groups, but that doesn't mean it couldn't use some upgrading.

I don't think we have an area that we couldn't live with who we have now. No horrible weakness. But, that is not the same as being satisfied with everyone we have. We need to get better at just about every position. Players like Gordon and Bosa will probably get there on their own. But everywhere else, if we can get a top player, it wouldn't hurt.

The second issue is that you can't get top players at any position at any time. This year, we aren't going to get a top OL, no matter how high we draft. There is just not a top OT in this years draft. So, if we want to really upgrade the OL, we are either going to do it the slow way, draft a lower round and wait a couple of years to see if they develop. THat or spend money and live with the risk of not getting the player we pay for.
