Don't tell that they don't mean anything to some people. A few (probably very few) pre-season fantasy leagues are cropping up. There are also analytics types who are spending real time trying to project emerging players based on their preseason stats.
Did anyone get to see the Barnett/Eagles game? I don't care what his stats are, but I really like him during the leadup to the draft and was wondering if he looked like he was going to do much.
Mike Williams is being mishandled like Tannehill was. Both needed surgery early and both put it off. Now the Fins are paying the price for that shortsighted inaction. Disc injuries to football players require a different approach IMO. Their occupation requires weekly trauma, and to think epidurals will provide long term solutions is naive in the extreme. Yeah if he was a coach or executive I can see that. But the odds of him re=aggravating the injury during the season is extremely high. Epidurals are a bandaid solution to hide the fact that once again Telesco and company didn't do their due dilligence with a first round pick. Williams was able to hide his injury from the cursory med checks of the Chargers. It's pretty much known he was injured during his collegiate season, not in a non=contact drill in shells.
IMO he will be on IR all season and won't play a down this year. Just one more first year bust for this team.

Pls post your medical degree, where u interned, and in which field you specialized.
Pls also post a credible source as to when he suffered this injury in college. It sure as hell did not seem to affect him in the playoff and championship game. He must be a frickin monster to put in the combine and proday numbers he did with a herniated disk.
fwiw....the fins wanted tannehill to get surgery.
he elected not to and instead he decided to rehab and to do stem cell therapy.
Chargers rookie wide receiver Mike Williams ran on a field last week for the first time since suffering a back injury in May that led the team to announce he would be on the sideline for most or all of training camp and invited speculation about whether he'd be able to play at all this season.

The Chargers reportedly believe he will be able to play. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the team is eyeing an October return for their first-round pick in this years draft.
Williams was placed on the physically unable to perform list at the start of camp, so he could remain on the list into the regular season. That would leave him ineligible to play for the first six weeks and Rapoport reports that no decision has been made about that at this point.
If he does come off the PUP list, Williams will be able to practice with the team while working toward a pro debut thats going to take a little longer than expected.

Soloman Thomas had a beast game for the Niners as well and they said he hadnt really been tearing it up in practice.

The Chargers are eyeing an October debut for first-round pick wide receiver Mike Williams. The Clemson product, who is recovering from a herniated disc in his back from the spring, has been sprinting on the treadmill and on the practice field. By all accounts, he's making solid progress as the team has used rest and rehab, rather than a surgical option.
Los Angeles is also being cautious.
That's why, according to several sources with direct knowledge of the situation, the plan is for Williams to play in October. How it happens will depend on what unfolds over the next three weeks until it's time to make a roster decision on Sept. 2.
But the belief is, barring any setbacks, he can practice in September, then he can work his way into a game in October. Potentially, Williams could be available for the bulk of the season.
No decision has been made on whether he'll start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list. It's possible, but he also might not because he could play in a game sooner than Week 7.
Either way, the Chargers are optimistic they'll have their No. 7 overall pick on the field for part of 2017, perhaps even offering fresh legs at a time when players start to grow weary.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
The Wasted Decade is done.

Running around in shorts doesn't mean much. Oh BTW it doesn't take a medical degree to understand the dynamics of injuries....just being around football and seeing it first hand. Sure he can run around and practice. They had the same optimism about Tannehill before he went down again and reality struck. How many hits will he have to take...how many times will he be able to extend his body as he fights for a contested pass? How long can he play before he goes down again? That is the real issue IMO. Epidurals are a bandaid. They mask the pain it isn't a cure for the injury. He can't be on them forever. The herniation won't simply go away with just epidurals. He may play with it this season but IMO he will be in and out of the lineup and just how good will he be? I like the kid and I'm concerned about his long term prognosis, i.e. his ability to have a long and productive career. At this point that aspect of William's injury doesn't look great IMO. At some point he will need surgery to permanently repair his back, be it this year or next.
