A thing I like about McVay, is seeing him run onto the field if he has to to call a timeout so there isn't a delay of game.
What do you think of Lynn so far?

A staff with Whiz and Bradley gives a couple of good sounding boards for a 1st time HC in Lynn.

If you go by points given up, they are 31st.
In that category they went from 4th both 2015/2016. All the way to 31stLast edited by oneinchpunch; 12-06-2017, 07:00 PM.Hashtag thepowderblues

I have always maintained that ranking an offense and defense by yards is BS.

They don't do it by points because you can't read it off the box scores. Box scores show the total number of points scored/allowed, which have to have the other phases of the game removed. You can't credit the offense with points scored on ST and D.
There is no perfect way. If you do it by points, you favor teams with good opposing phases and good ST for field position. If a D is very stingy and the ST gives good field position, that team is going to score a ton of "extra" points (all other things being equal) by virtue of being less likely to be stopped.

The points given up are kind of deceiving as their offense is so bad and turns the ball over so much that their defense is always defending a short field (though one could argue short fields don't lead to many long drives). They miss Wade and the injuries have taken a toll - but I love seeing it as a Charger fan.
So they go from one of the defenses that creates a lot of turnovers and is one of the defenses that allows the least points to being one of the worst in both categories, while losing few players?

Not saying losing Wade doesn't hurt. But put Rivers on that team and they are in first place with that defense.

In comparison to coaches hired last two years it looks like we made a good choice
Solid Difference Makers- Pederson & McVay
Good- McDermitt & Lynn
Okay - Marrone & Shanahan
Hot Seat- Gase, Koetter, & Joesph
Next Out -Jackson
FIRED - McAdoo
Cleveland Browns Hue Jackson 2016 - ? lack of talent may cause him to get fired 1-27
Jacksonville Jaguars Doug Marrone 2016 - Ok
Miami Dolphins Adam Gase 2016 - Questionable moves from wanting Cutler, and not Ajai
Philadelphia Eagles Doug Pederson 2016 - Good hire
New York Giants Ben McAdoo 2016 - Fired deservedly
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Dirk Koetter 2016 - Team under performing
Buffalo Bills Sean McDermott 2017 - A good coach who made a bad move in benching Taylor
Denver Broncos Vance Joseph 2017 - They won with Siemen last year, but not this year hmm Coach
Los Angeles Chargers Anthony Lynn 2017 - If you start 0-4 and get your team 6-6 give the coach credit
Los Angeles Rams Sean McVay 2017 -Good very good got Goff playing well
San Francisco 49ers Kyle Shanahan 2017 -Good offensive mind, why he wait so long to start Garappolo

This might come off as a very bias way of looking at it but what is the real mark of a good coach? Someone that gets his team to play hard on game day? If thats true how anthony lynn got this team to continue to fight back after an 0-4 start is extremely impressive. To me it says a lot about the coach when you start 0-4 and can turn things around and not lose the team. McVay and Pederson appear to be great now but the real test will come when we see how they handle adversity and how their teams respond.

McAdoo was in his second year as HC, after being OC for two years, and made the playoffs his first year as HC. Yeah you are correct that it's too early to to judge first year coaches, especially if the personnel is a problem. Lynn is on a good run, so far so good. I thought McCoy would get better after his first season, you just don't know.
The Browns are bad because of disastrous picks of QBs and other bad personnel decisions. Hue does have some responsibility, but has been a good soldier with the cards he's been dealt. He learned that lesson after his Raider season. I'm not sad for Browns fan, as most of them are also Cav fans, but they will someday be like Jax and have a good season, as you can't miss forever.
