Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn announced that Philip Rivers is in the NFL concussion protocol program after an injury suffered against the Jacksonville Jaguars. If Rivers isn't cleared by Saturday, Kellen Clemens will get the start against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
With potentially no Rivers, and then little to no passing threat, I'm not seeing any of the RBs getting any yardage on the ground. Bills D would just stack the line. I hope they can beat the Bills, but would be shocked if they did without Rivers. An L would end the season.
I could see that happening. Maybe it would be a good thing for the team, not to mention for Rivers and family. Rivers and Gates could walk out the door together. It would open up a huge amount of cap too. First round pick would then most likely be a QB, and may need to trade up to get the one we want.

QB of the future = Cardale Jones. Let Clemens be sacrificial lamb in the 1st half, and if offensive stalls Lynn can change to Jones in 2nd half to "shake things up" and not look like playing favorites for the guy he brought in.
If by QB of the future you mean Cardale Jones is backup QB of the future, then maybe. But I just can't envision him being the starting QB of the future. Buffalo wouldn't have given him away if he was anything special.
