No excuses Phillip has got to stop chucking the ball to KC. We would win if he doesn't have multiple turnovers in that streak.

The int's and inability to move the ball, ground and air are because we can't block their front 7, especially when they stunt or blitz. Fixing that and then tackling on D would go a long way to winning both of last years games.
Forget it Donny you're out of your element

          Nope.

If you can't block the play, you can't run it. That is one of the older sayings in coaching and there has never been a true aphorism in any sport.

KC beats up by stunting and blitzing on us, and our OL get beat. It isn't a matter of us being confused, it is a matter of not executing. They have the better players across the board and they win their matchups. You can scheme and adjust to protect one player, maybe two. You can't scheme and protect and the entire unit. Marcus Peters got his int last year on plays that were Rivers was forced to get rid of the ball quickly due to pressure and the pass was not accurate because it was rushed. If Rivers doesn't throw the ball, he is going to give up more sacks, and in the end, whether it was the int or a 10 sack game, the result would have been the same.

The only true brilliance that KC had in their coaching last year was that they didn't get too cute or outsmart themselves. They were running plays that we see in every game, and doing their regular stuff. They didn't try and outsmart us, they just out-executed us. They knew they had a couple weakness to attack and that was as far as they had to get in the game plan. But they knew they matched up better and they just came at us and let the game come to them. I don't doubt they had some more stuff just in case, but if they did, they didn't use it. For us to beat KC, we have to be better fundamentally.

Now, it may be that they would then be able to out coach us. That may very well be the case. My point is that it just isn't how they have been beating us so far. There is a reason KC looks dramatically less impressive against a team like Tenn, who is not as good in most aspects as we are, but yet were able to soundly whip KC in the 2nd half of their playoff game.

The biggest weakness our roster has right now is Pulley, which is funny because physically he is a good player. Physically, he pulls and leads, has the strength and power to be a good OL. He just thinks he sees something, reacts and then can't recover. DL and LB who stunt and shift give him fits. Everyone else has to cover up, which means if the other team is bringing 4 or 5 guys, is mathematically not possible. You see him trying to recover, or caught off guard by a stunt, and he gets rag dolled, or lets the guy go right past him. He improved dramatically, but he has to get better with stunts or he will be out of football soon. Unfortunately, not everyone who is bad at learning to recognize and react to stunts can just power their way through it. Some guys never learn, and we don't have the time to wait and see.
