    Geno Smith

I know it is just a part of one game. But Smith appears to have terrible footwork and it messes up his mechanics. A lot of throwing off his back foot or throwing flat footed. I was surprised to see that given he has been in the league for a while now. He is athletic enough to still make the throws but it is going to hurt him in accuracy and velocity.

And yet, he is still the best backup on this team. Not good.

Yeah, that’s why I’m hoping Shimonek shows.

Yeah, he'd look good a few plays, then just awful.
Still looked better than Cardale, imo.

Anything happens to PR, and this team stinks... Very quickly.

I have to think there are better options than Jones and Geno

I actually think Geno is an improvement over Clemmons. He has a lot of talent and he might be able to hold the fort for a game or two if needed. I just am disappointed that after, what, 4 years in the league, playing for three teams now, all those starts, he has such flawed fundamentals. By now, that stuff should be corrected. If he could do that, he might be a decent NFL QB.

If anything happens to any of the top QB's (except in Philly), they will sink very quickly. See 'Green Bay Packers' for details.

Clemons had a number of years in the offense. He still looked like a bag of hammers in most pre season games he played. His only saving grace and reason for a roster spot was his friendship with Rivers. His ball security, (INT and FUM) throughout his career was laughable.

Can we just hike it to Ekler?

I like it. If Rivers get hurt, lets put in the wishbone.

With Clemens, I think they were hoping that they had the guy who did pretty well in Tennessee for that one season. He just never showed up.

Put it into context. Smith stats derive from his rookie year and year 2 with the worst collection of skill players in the league and by a wide margin.
Clemens stats.....half come from his 9th season in the league. And they were no better than yr 2 and 4 when he amassed the other half of his "career" stats. You would think a vet would show more than a rook when given regular playing time no?
                Personally I'll take Gino.

After 1 (admittedly sloppy) preseason game...Cardale ran with the 1's for the most part, and Geno with the 2's. And Geno looked better.

But he does make some headscratchers.

I believe that Geno is easily fooled by the defense which leads to many of his picks. Defenders are not where he expects them to be.
