Biggest reason we didnt make the playoffs last year

My "local" broadcast TV affiliates are located in Albuquerque NM and the "home" team is always a Cowboys game but they also show most Bronco home games too, so I don't get many (if even the 1 LAC@Den game) Chagras game here in SW CO, but from casually following along last year I thought it was the PK merry go round and just horrible STs in general that lost enough games to scuttle the playoff chances.

Agree, no guarantee we wn that game had we made it. I fully am aware teh rusn defense was awful and aid many times during the season but thts hard to guage over several plays. The kicking game though i know we shoulda beat Miami but one other game i dont recall which, they were afraid to send our kicker out on a 48 yarder and went for it and we didnt make it. Had we had a realiable kicker, we try that FG.
The defense did let us down no question so perhaps the best answer is both, but make the Miami FG and we are in the playoffs.

Yeah here in Vegas we now get all the Raider games so i get to see the Bolts on Regular TV today but its sparingly throughout the season.

Thankyou Chargerville. Finally someone who gets it. Yes the dolphins game we should have won if the kicker makes the fg, and Denver we should have atleast tied it. But the rest of those games they killed us in the running game. So when you say other factors what you really mean is our horrible rush defense. I do have to say I do see an improvement so far in the run defense this season but our pass defense has taken a hit. Hopefully when Bosa comes back that will make a difference.

You kind of have to look at all of the games and find the overall reoccurring negative theme, because whenever you lose 7 games but miss the playoffs by 1 game, someone could make the argument that any one of those games, had you won, would have put you in the playoffs.

As much as I'd like to say, the kicking game cost us the playoffs... had me made that FG in the Dolphins game, we go 10-6... you can also say, had the Chargers not given up 200+ rushing yards to the Eagles, maybe they win that game instead of losing by 2 points. Or had the Chargers not surrendered 170+ rushing yards in both Chiefs games, paired with 3 Rivers INTs, maybe the Chargers win one of those games. The Jags game, the Chargers gave up something on special teams, surrendered 130+ yards on the ground, got boneheaded penalties, had a player not play smart after an INT, and threw a boneheaded pick in OT.

The reoccurring negative theme(s) in most of our losses were bad special teams play (everything, not just the kicking) and run defenses.
