And who would have thought that a kicker would be the game winning hero?

WTF were the Steelers doing there? Even a Charger kicker will make 1 out of 3.

You know when he attempted his first fg in the first quarter I didn't think his leg was that strong when he kicked it from 53 yards. I know he missed it but it wasn't by that much. I was under the assumption he had a weak leg.

Heinz Field is a tough place to kick. 52 yds is a tough one. But maybe that first attempt in the last three was off.

The first one he got lucky that there was an offsides

The 2nd miss/block wasn't his fault. Of course your kick is going to get blocked when half of the defense is offsides before the snap.

His misses today largely due to the "borderline headstart" tactic that PIT employed. All his kicks were inch away from getting blocked. Not sure how confidence you can kick when unblocked guys running full speed right at you. His game winning kick was made when the offside dude ran right past him.

On his 1st try missed, his missed left when the pressure (illegally) came from the right side. Instinctively if you don't want to get your kick blocked you had to kick the ball away from the pressure and take a chance. No chance of making the kick if the ball was blocked. We need to help out the kicker by alerting the officials, which I think they did on those last kicks, and protect better. No kickers going to kick consistent when guys all over him, even if the ball wasn't blocked.

I think the squeelers weíre trying to ice him since they were out of time-outs or get the perfect jump to get the block.

Everybody was offside all game long, on many plays. Players on both sides was trying to beat the snap. It was in the gameplans. Belichick started scouting the officiating crews tendency long time ago, since then everyone doing it. They must have seen the tendency of this crew on tapes that they tend to not call the "borderline illegal" offside or false start. Those last kicks they were just desperately gone full force with that plan, since they had nothing left, that's why we saw half of the their team "offside" on all 3 kicks.

Not a weak leg. An inconsistent leg is the book on him (in college). He seems to have the mental makeup you look for. So with good coaching. Eh hem. He can be a great kicker.

Awesome look into the Money Badgerís mindset and his inside Chargerís connection.....
In his two seasons as the Chargersí head coach, Anthony Lynn knew how desperately his team needed a reliable kicker. He found one in Michael Badgley, a rookie Lynn didnít know how well he knew.

It is a great article. I hope the Chargers can work with him on kickoff distance. If not, please draft a punter that can:

                                      1. PUNT
                                      2. Kickoff
                                      3. Hold

I am sure there is someone out there.
