Quick thoughts on an un effin believeable game

From Stewart, yes. Can't imagine he has much for blocking scheme's since most don't produce much. I was thinking lets not to run out any kickoffs because we couldn't get them barely out to the 20.

Well hooray for Stewart for earning his money for a change. Good to finally see us return a punt for a TD instead of watching the other teams do it.

The TD today King ran untouch into the endzone. He didn't demonstrate any personal skills like making people miss, break tackle or anything.

go back and rewatch the play Vina...... King made some great cuts to make people miss and ran right where he needed to to give his lack of top end speed as much ground to get into the endzone. He read the field perfectly throughout the play. I completely disagree he didnt demonstrate personal skills. That was no straight up the field run to daylight. He ran untouched because he did a great job making people miss....he may not be as shifty as some but he made people lose the play

Objectively speaking, this ST has been bad in most areas but also has been really good/great in the return game all season. We have had a lot of of long returns, near TD all season. The only reason we haven't get many return for TDs so far is due to the lack of speed of King. He has great vision and makes great decisions on where to go with the ball, but tacklers have been able to catch him from behind. His lack of quickness also cause him to lose to the last line of defense where if he had juke that guy he would go all the way.

This season return game scheme is the best we have had since the Boss Ross days. The TD returns of Eric Metcalf (Gilbride days) and Sproles (Marty/AJ Smith era) mostly due to their own skills of making people miss and out run people to the end zone. This year long returns you can clearly see that it's the blocking scheme and blockers doing good job in open field blocking, they're being coached well on blocking during return. All 3 guys we put in there this year have had good returns, mostly untouch until going down. The TD today King ran untouch into the endzone. It seems like if a team really wants to get close to the kicker on a critical kick they do. They come too close on too many of those....there needs to be some kind of adjustment. Seems like opposition sees something on tape they feel they can take advantage of...same for the punts where weve had 2 fakes now for 1st downs?

Change players out or changing protection...there are too many close calls to say the scheme or players are effective. I dont know the answer but its still an issue that could cost us a game.

Our ST units have been inconsistent at best over the last 2 years under Stewart. It is all phases that have had issues. To me the accountability has to start with the HC and ST coordinator. It must be addressed in the offseason.

What a great win. I couldn't believe it.

That is not a game the Chargers usually win.

The comeback? sure. That's a game we come back and tie it, and then give up the lead again.

OR... they take the lead, and then the Pitt drive that ties the game completely swings momentum, and they have to punt, and lose.

Props to Coach Lynn... Coach Whiz called an OUTSTANDING game, particularly the 2nd half... Coach Bradley also did a nice job. Really made the Steelers work (except for that drive before halftime, and honestly, if they don't call that PI on Davis(which was questionable), they stop them on that drive too.

Not to hijack a great thread about a great win. But if Stewart is TRULY Lynn's friend, he should resign at the end of the season. He sucks.
