  • Next team up: The Patsies (Game week discussion)

Just thinking about next week. Trying to understand what NE does well and weaknesses. My initial thoughts.

Defensively looking at statistics the are bottom ten 22nd against the pass and top 10 against the rush. Scoring D they are similar to us around 8. Their division is pretty weak offensively though which benefits their stats. I think they are last in the league in sacks by their D....that is a good sign for Rivers and our Offense. After Ravens stifling D I think we have a far better chance to run the ball and pass equally to keep brady off the field.

Offensively they are a top 10 run team and a top 10 pass team. I think they can lead either way. They are protecting Brady well but I dont see their division as strong in pass rush talent. That said I think Gus has to find ways to get to Brady. Wondering if the safety D we used today might not be a bad approach as it gave us speed on D but also flexibility against the pass.

    Thoughts?

Waiting for richpjr to post his traditional odds post for the Game Week discussion, unless rich wants to just post it here.

I think its worth a try, if nothing less, there is less tape to prepare off of for that package.

Belicheck with two weeks to prep is a concern but I think we are pretty battle tested after two slugfests with the Ravens in 3 weeks. This would be a great time for our offense to get going. Looks like our defense is already in form.

        Build on that momentum!

You really can't project regular season with the Pats. They usually up the levels to really high in the playoffs and do different things, sometimes different people, different schemes in the playoffs. Winning in weird and unpredictable kind of ways. Sometimes straight out of dumb luck.

NE probably is the luckiest playoff team I have ever seen. So our young players, rookies and playoff first timers have to keep composure when things go for them and against us, including random lucks, officiatings, mistakes, close plays etc..

Should be a back-and-forth dog fight. If we play like we did today, our talented roster should outlast them in the end. NE arguably has less talents than BAL.

The aging Brady regular season plays significantly downgrade from last year. Same goes for Gronk, a shadow of himself. Even if they regain some of their magic we still should win the game if we play to our potential, just grind into the 4th quarter, don't make any big mistake.

              Key to the game:

Keep security guards at the training facility 24 hours a day and sweep the meeting rooms for bugs every day.
Moving to LA is not a good business decision, it’s a death sentence.

Was waiting for the point spread before starting the thread! Since I just found it, I'll add it here.

New England opens as a 4.5 point favorite.

I LOVE both AFC dogs plus the pts and ML next week. Already have positions as such and would love to add as the numbers climb as I think they may.

NE rarely make big mistakes, the bigger the game the less mistakes they make.

When your opponent doesn't beat himself you'll have to man up and take it to him and beat him up.

When your opponent doesn't shoot himself on the foot, you'll have to take your own gun and shoot at his d.

                              We are the better team
unfortunately that doesnít mean much in New England in January
Brady is playing the most scared of his career and wonít hold the ball for more than 2 seconds.
He will quickly get the ball to his playmakers and ask them to get YAC.
so defensively we need to tackle well and avoid PI calls.
on offense, we should be able to do what we want, just donít turn it over.
                              ASAP Į\_(ツ)_/Į

Damn tough game, but we can win it. Let the Colts take out the Chiefs for us.

But will Gordon be healthy? Be nice to have the multi-pronged Gordon from early in the year.
