My question is, what exactly do the Chargers do best? We've run the ball well at times. When teams have stopped the run, we've throw it deep, at times. When teams leave checkdowns open, we've hit the backs out of the backfield.

this is a complete team that is going to be hard for them to just take away our best thing.

My guess, with the weather looking poor, is that they'll focus on stopping the run (as that is a weakness for them), and will try to sit on the short routes... make us throw it deep in poor weather conditions. that's my guess.

They will run the ball quite a bit, and I'm ascared of James White and Burkhead out of the backfield.
Over the past few months? Nothing!
It would be a GREAT week for our O to come out and do ANYTHING well - controlling the clock, running the ball, making plays downfield.
Pat's D not up to usual standards. Time for Whiz to get creative ( read NOT like Turner and McCoy!).

You mean getting in red zone and running up middle 3 straight plays and then missing field goal.

He takes away your best offensive player, which, as things sit right now, IMHO, that player would be Keenan Allen. We'd best get used to that happening on Sunday. of Course, the weather might team up with the Pats, helping out the defense attempting to cover #13. He's going to force the Chargers to utilize the Williams boys and Travis Benjamin in the passing game. (No, I'm not forgetting Hunter Henry. Tell me he's on the field for 25+ snaps, and I'd be pleased.)

        2).
        Hi Aces!

You are correct. But here is the problem. The Chargers don't have a best player! There is Rivers, but he is the QB and Belicheck cannot take him out. So on offense, they can take away Allen, but the Chargers still have Williams, Williams, Benjamin, Ekeler, Gordon, Gates. So that strategy will not work. On defense, I feel the Chargers best player is James right now. But he plays all over the place, so you cannot try to occupy him either. Chargers are built and fully capable to beat the Patriots.

Like, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.

The Belichick's "3 takeways" are: They try to take away your best weapon, thing you do best, and thing you like to do.

When playing them, it's much better to have 7 good/above average things going for you than 1 great/dominant thing, BB will find ways to take that away, or at least contain it, slow it down, no matter how dominant, how unstoppable it looked in prior weeks.

That's why they have a hard time against balance teams, and usually own 1-trick teams. Luckily, we have a balance team. That's 1 of the things that going for us, to our advantage.

1 of the things that concern is Rivers has tendency to trust Gates too much and always looking for him in either 1st or 2nd read on 3rd down or redzone. That's what he likes to do. BB will surely try to blank Gates or set up something to jump Gates' route during 3rd down or redzone area. Must be careful.

I run a defensive coordinator fantasy camp in my head, so I rewatched the Steelers-Patriots coaches film from Week 15 last night. I'm concerned about James White out of the backfield and J Edelman on the flanker screen, especially out of a bunch formation. Also watched because I've been hearing rumblings that Gronkowski has lost a step at TE. I think Derwin James is going to blanket Gronkowski all day and Gronkowski will need picks to get separation. He's no longer the match-up nightmare he once was.

I see Casey Hayward matched up on Edelman and Michael Davis on Chris Hogan, with Des King assigned to cover James White out of the backfield on the weakside, and Adrian Philips on James White out of the backfield on the strongside.

Gameplan: Keep Brady out of rhythm and the score close and play for last possession with three timeouts, let your kicker finish the game with no time left on the clock and steal one in New England and hope the Chiefs win the day prior so the Chargers can end them at Arrowhead.

Even the players themselves have mentioned the O being out of sync.
Outside of the Arizona win, O has been erratic the past two months.
This week would be an opportune time for that unit to play solid football for 60 minutes. We'll probably need it if we plan on besting the Pat's in New England in January.

On passing offense, we might want to mix it up with 2 Williams underneath and Allen goes deep. The beauty of our offense is that the are really no 1-trick WRs, a guy who can only goes deep, or only can play slot underneath. Rivers always prefers to go deep but he can dink dunk all day too, if necessary. We have a balance and multi-dimensional offense. That's hard to stop. The Twin Williams out there are good at going deep, but they can separate or finding soft spot in the zone underneath. Allen excelled at getting open in short and intermediate areas, he also can go deep, has enough speed and ball tracking ability to go deep. Allen has the highest football IQ out of all recevers. He mastered all moves and tricks to get open. M Williams is our best jump-ball rebounder, even better than Gates Mr. Basketball. Even the forgotten man Benjamin has enough quickness to play underneath if they want. I can run the ball out of reverses and screens. Gorden and Jackson can both catch and run, 3 downs bell-cow RBs.

So we might want take advantage of that, mix up our multi-talents players just to throw their gameplan off a bit. But it'll be a game of adjustments and adjustments, nonstop adjustment during the quarter, between the drives, the plays. A chess match between the coaches.

Latest weather forecast for Sunday in Boston: high of 28, 0% chance of snow, wind 10 MPH. So we just need to deal with the cold, which should make for a cleaner game.
