He made a living run away from LBs in his career.
He has been a shell of his former self. Looks slow and broken down. He may have a good game or two left, but I am convinced that he will retire after this game/season.

LOL - amazing how that happened twice in a row. I find it hard to believe that a NE team would let that happen.

Ideally I'd want James on him ALL GAME, but I think I'd rather take my chances playing our athletic DBs and risk getting overpowered.

What's our other option at this point? Have Pullard or Emanuel try to cover Gronk???? That's infinitely worse.
Asking James to shadow Gronk all game seems to make sense at first but then you realize that part of the success of this defense is the ability to line James up all over the field and let him cause havoc from many different places. I think giving him one assignment all game (even one I do think he could handle) severely limits him and the big play ability of the defense.

I am not sure what the alternative is, but I am sure Bradley has something in mind. Gronk did have a TD against us last year but I don't think he had too big of a game stats wise or even big play wise.

Besides, I think the bigger threat is going to be White and Michel out of the backfield. Gronk may get one or two big ones (20+ yards) but those two can pepper you all game long with 7-10 yarders.

          1. Limit their running game.
          2. Pressure on Brady... don't give him time
          3. No turnovers

"...of course that's just my opinion, I could be wrong."

            Similar to the Ravens game:
            1) Limit big plays against D and Teams to 1 or 2.
            2) O and Teams not giving TB a short field( he'll not leave points in the Red Zone).
            3) Money Badger not missing.

Yeah, James is an invaluable "mobile chess piece", it's better to put a LB on Gronk if he's playing so-so. It he brings his typical A-game then I think we have to put Jenkins on him exclusively. Jenkins is our best 1-on-1 cover guy in the slot area, his cover skill and physical nature are similar to Jammer, except for Jammer can cover deep and Jenkins still risky there, still need to learn to turn the head and looking for the ball, or at least act like you're looking for the ball, so officials keep their flags in their pockets.

Jenkins is still a 1-trick pony, but is a great 1-trick pony. He's great at covering guy man-to-man inside those slot zones in the middle, erase TEs and slot receivers.

                1. Pressure Brady any how, any way, so he is not in rhythm.
                2. Limit the dump off passes and YAC to the Pats RB committee.
                3. 7's over 3's. Need TDs in this game.

And one more..... Don't let up, no matter what. AL needs to remind the players of the 28-3 deficit to the Falcons in the Super Bowl and the Pats comeback, how many come from behind wins Brady has in his career, and that Pats team is never dead until there is no time left on the clock, as long as TB12 is the qb.

FWIW....read an article from a Dc that said this season they did not double or even scheme to stop Gronkowski. He said all that is needed now is to hit him early as he is no longer able to redirectly quickly enough to get to where he needs to be.

I'm not inclined to believe in the demise of Gronk and the Patriots just yet. This time of year they seem to inherit super powers and they've had an extra week of rest and prep.

This is a frustrating article, but there is some truth to it. We need change the course of this franchise's history.
The Patriots won’t mind if history repeats itself and the more talented team loses again.
