Chargers sign interesting punter

Average is kinda misleading stat. How long is his hang time? Can he directional kick to pin opponents? What % land within the 5 (or even 10) yd line instead of going into the end zone? Does he tend to outkick his coverage? Those are probably more telling and relevant for a good punter, IMO

I think punting is the least of the chargers concerns right now.

Yes I know we needed an upgrade to jones and i'm glad we got someone who can punt the ball deep. My thing is if you are going to sign a punter then you better make sure you sign other players like some offensive tackles or defensive line help. I know it's early and free agency doesn't start til like after the SB, I just want him to sign players that will make a difference.

Unless he's got his eyes on someone else from the CFL, there won't be anyone worth signing until free agency. Also not sure if you're saying punters don't make a difference, or you're hoping for better free agents when they're available.

Free agency starts in March. And a punter is a cheap signing. Don't worry, we will get some OL somehow. This punter was a FA from the CFL. Don't be so anxious lol.

If you have a punter that can flip the field AND give major hang time to your coverage boys then you have just made a difference.

Its a positive move IMO. Punting depth was an issue. We used to have a weapon to put it deep and put more pressure on the opposition. Those punts can make the difference in s close game and we have a lot of close games. I hope he works out.
