Censoring Profanity

I'd say if you want to make this as big as can be and capture most of the CMB either the members can easily and politely change fuc#in to frickin or the mods can do it for them, once it says fricken we all get the idea anyways, it doesn't have to be vulger. Will Smith has had hit after hit with no cussing, no need for it in my opinion other than screaming at the TV on a bad call!

The swearing does not bother me at all, in fact I am one of the worse offenders. I think it is scientifically proven that people who swear are more intelligent than those who do not. Or something like that...

What i dont understand is if words are censored at CMB why are there also bans for using profanity? Im going to talk with my coder and see if he can create a user profanity filter. I think that type of thing should be a personal choice and not a global setting.

And im not sure getting all of the CMB members would work here. So many of our members have been banned there. At one point i asked myself where do charger fans go when they are banned at other forums for profanity? Does the fact that they cuss make them bad people? I like that we accept everyone for who they are. As long as they dont attack others and invade their personal space they work out here.

Our thing is trolling and personal attacks. Those are the things we choose to moderate. The profanity has really never been an issue. Its not even that often here. We also dont allow porn. But thats never been an issue. Just something i would most likely ban a member for.

We dont. I dont see it as a problem. But if a user has that option i think its good. Im not a fan of global modding. Trolling. Personal attacks. Nudity. More concerned about those things.

But people evolve. I was more curious to see how our members feel about profanity now. Because its never been a rule. And if enough members felt some sort of filter should be in place i would consider it. But i think to some extent most here stay here because of the freedom.

Some people like or need that structure. Im not that way. Im naturally an R rated type of person. lol This forum has always been more on the adult side. If my target were kids id think about it. We are not controlled by an NFL franchise. So we can do whatever we want.

I think if you look at how many forums that had really strict rules are no longer around vs. this one still rocking- it kinda tells ya a little cussing is no big deal for the vast majority, and some people will find things to complain about no matter what! Acronyms are all well and good but I'm 74 years old so you will have to include a glossary. WTF is FTW????
