Except that in the NFL, most teams don't pay for infrastructure either. The majority of teams don't own their stadiums and get deals thrown in for their practice facilities. If the money doesn't go to the players, it goes to the owners pockets. The NFL is not a traditional bussiness in that sense. The Players are the product.

That is starting to change on the infrastructure part, and that may be a big part of the next CBA.
