I actually like Tyrod....safe backup, takes care of the rock...but is everyone too afraid to point out a pattern here? We try out RG III, had Geno and Cardale on the roster at one point, now Tyrod? Maybe drafting Tyree Jackson as the future isn't so far fetched ...
      Mock version 3.0-The "Double Mitchell"
      (Assumes "fantasy" trade with Vikes)

      11. Q. Mitchell CB
      23. A. Mitchell WR
      37. K. Jenkins DT
      69. C. Beebe OG -105. C.Gray LB
      110. R. Davis RB -140. J. Jones Slot CB
      181. T. McLachlan TE -225. J. Jean-Baptiste Edge
      253. K. Vidal RB

They all have more mobilty than Rivers?

But I think I know where your going with this. Wouldn't mind Tyree either but he isn't the heir apparent

nah, it's the first thing I thought and why we know the Chargers aren't trading for Josh Rosen.

If Rivers goes down we have a 75% chance of losing every game with 90% of backups out there. Tyrod steady enough to make it 50-50. Steady but unspectacular.

I like the pattern of bringing in mobile backups in case PR were to go down for a play or more. It makes the other team suddenly have to deal with what they weren't practicing most for all week.

Cardale as development guy though... yeah, him and Mettenberger, I get why they wanted to take a look at them.

Pronounced Tuh-rod for the uninitiated. Former Hokie and Hampton Crabber. Always pulled for the kid being from Southeast Va .He's good people. Hopefully only plays in preseason.

Cardale sucks, just end that experiment.

                      I'm guessing that's what happens.

Not a bad signing and clearly an upgrade over Taylor but this trend with every QB that the Chargers have signed since Lynn being hired is starting to get weird.

I would rather have spent a day 4 or day 5 pick on someone in the draft that Rivers could mentor for 2 years before they perhaps take over.
Tom Telesco’s Results in 9 years as Chargers GM:

                        - 69-74 record
                        - 0 division titles in 9 yrs as GM
                        - Worst record among all active GMs with same tenure
                        - 6th worst winning percentage among all active GMs overall
                        - 2 playoff wins despite elite QB all 9 yrs
                        - Team still has the same weaknesses (Oline and run defense) that it had when hired as GM in 2013
                        - Consistently puts together horrible depth, expects starters to never miss games
