Agree. If the team is high on him, you would think they and he would agree to a longer term deal. I just get the feeling that he won't be on the team 2 or 3 years from now. But I've thought that for the past several years. He has a role on the team, but also think he's replaceable, just not this year. There are other more critical positions to fill this year.

Maybe the 1 year deal was his choice. He proved a lot last season, if he continues to improve he'll be in for a decent contract

With Phillips getting a one year deal does that make a safety a high priority in the draft? A 1st/2nd pick or will they take a flyer on a late round guy and worry about it next year?
