Talent alone that got you thru college don't fly in the NFL.
There were a lot of red flags about Manziel's partying and poor work habits pre-draft. All those QB-needy teams passed on him before the Browns were dumb enough to pick him late in round 1...

Browns GM was Ray Farmer, but he claims he didn't want to pick Manziel. He claims some homeless dude in Cleveland convinced owner Jimmy Haslam to pick Johnny Highball...wow, just...wow:

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Raiders are considering "some sort of surprise pick" at No. 4 overall that would "necessitate absolute secrecy."

Per Rapoport, a pick that "we are not expecting" seems to be in the offing. Forced to speculate on who that might be, Rapsheet mentioned LSU LB Devin White, a quarterback or offensive lineman. The Raiders, who are still looking to replace Khalil Mack, are in a defensive line-rich part of the board, but coach Jon Gruden has made it clear he is listening to no one but himself. Gruden is fast developing into the second coming of Al Davis.

LOL, scare somebody into trading for your pick because you're going to take their guy.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

If Chucky is drafting "some sort of a surprise pick,
why would secrecy be needed ?

As though somebody would jump ahead, in order to get him before the Raiders.

He wants secrecy so that when it ends up being a bad pick,
Chucky can blame it all on Mayock.

Lol, the surprise would be NOT drafting a Edge that they traded away there, and drafting a QB instead. Anything but a QB would be an improvement to that team. They need everything but a QB.

Yep...Carr is kind of like Alex Smith...solid QB, just not a whole lot of respect for some reason that eludes me...

                    Right school wrong player.
The second coming of Al pick will be Cole Tracy!

Deebo Samuel would be a very Raider-like surprise pick...even though they have bigger PON's...

At #4? I do think they go edge at 4. Then RB/TE with the next 2 picks. They look pretty good at WR imo.
