think Tillery is going to end up being a very versatile rotational piece/element to our Dline, being able to play all three positions, including nose and strong side DE.

still see DT/NT as a major need post Mebane and heading into next year's draft.... (Derrick Brown pls)
Love some D. Brown but he'll never be there @32.

Report: Chargers sign seventh-round pick Cortez Broughton

The Los Angeles Chargers have signed seventh-round pick Cortez Broughton to his four-year rookie contract, per Adam Caplan of Sirius XM NFL Radio.

Broughton was the last of the Chargers' seven selections in the draft and is the first of the group to sign with the team. All drafted players receive four-year deals with first-round picks getting a fifth-year team option attached.

Broughton appeared in 48 games for the University of Cincinnati over four seasons with the team. During his senior year, he compiled career-highs across the board in tackles (52), tackles for loss (18.5), sacks (7.5), forced fumbles (two) and passes defended (five).

He's signed. I expect the rest of the Day 2 and 3 rookies to be signed by the end of the rookie minicamp.

Tillery doesn't jump off the screen to me like Broughton; but there was a reason Tillery went high & Broughton went low - i just can't figure it out. I saw very little tape this year of draftees. I do know that Tillery initially didn't impress me; but after watching him again against Michigan, he didn't get a lot of opportunities rushing the passer. He was either double teamed, or went on outside stunts that generally takes tackles out of the pass rush. It was frustrating to watch, knowing the Chargers had selected him.

Two big time 3 tech tackles is a godsend. Rotate them at will & keep them fresh on search & destroy missions of Mahomes/Brady.

I agree with sending the Dawgs in wave after fresh wave. Let's rotate 8-9 guys, with Uchenna being used partially as a rush LB/LEO, on the front 4 and bash QBs all season!

I am hoping Jerry far exceeds my expectations but I'd be ok if he performs at an Avg/Above Avg DT and Dominants stretches of games/season.

What if Broughton beats out Tillery for most snaps?
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

If our Cortez plays anywhere near, the beast, CK was. We would have our second Rookie AP in a row.

I think our expectations are a little bit too high for rookie defensive tackles. These guys need at least a year to mature. The best scenario would be both guys sharing the load with a veteran, and being effective this year.

That is rational. This is May. Rational comes after TC.

Agree, that and there is the rookie wall factor since the NFL season is much longer than college.
