They're always trying to influence our elections. Probably because we're always trying to do the same. And any candidate would take dirt on their opponent from any source.

My response to all this so far has been....well, duh. We know this stuff happens.

It appears that Comey's replacement nominee, Christopher Wray, will be easily confirmed by the Senate. Senator Feinstein has said she will vote for his confirmation, and there is very little push from the Democrats in the nomination hearing. At least this one doesn't appear to be a grand-stander, and will probably be more apolitical, than trying to please both sides.

As far as Don Jr, there really isn't much there, other than he was lured into a meeting promising dirt, and he got none. Professional political operatives probably would have taken a different route, re: getting someone else to look into it to create a layer of plausible deniability, but action oriented business men prefer a direct route. No one in the public at that time was alert to the 'Russia, Russia, Russia' story until Comey spectacularly booted the Clinton e-mail investigation. Its going to be be hard to find something to prosecute, and ultimately win that case. I'm just wondering who found this morsel against Don Jr, and who paid for it.

No, we've moved from collusion to digging up dirt on political opponents. There's nothing illegal here. Again I'm asking what the big deal is with this?

This revelation corresponds to a "shred of evidence".... and the special council is supposed to be investigating Russian interference in the election. I think it's pretty clear to everybody here - even Trump supporters - that Russia did.

Let's see what Mueller finds wrt the extent of Russian involvement - because it's clear we're not going to get the truth from the Trump camp.

I've been hearing the "collusion" accusation for months, and yet the only collusion for which there is any evidence is, 1) CNN colluded with Hillary's campaign to cheat in a Presidential debate by giving them the questions prior to that debate, and 2) the DNC colluded with Hillary's campaign to cheat Bernie out of the nomination.

Yet the collusion for which there has yet to be any evidence dominates the headlines for six months.

Hopefully Mueller is keeping his eye on the ball. The investigation is about how the Russians tried to influence the election. Attempts at collusion (as admitted by Trump Jr.) are just one aspect of it.

It sounds like Flynn pleads guilty to lying about not talking to the Russian ambassador after the election, which got him fired by Pence, who may have got that info from the very same FBI investigation. It certainly doesn't sound like there was "collusion" to sway the election, more like Flynn going off the reservation prepping for setting up something post-inauguration.

Donald Trump probably won't be hit with anything. I really doubt that he personally told Flynn to talk to the Russian Ambassador. Trump would pardon any family member, and it won't affect his voter base in the next election. If all they have is lying to an FBI agent (and Manifort and partner's tax issues for pre-election stuff), it will be a big disappointment for those who wanted to find a quid-pro-quo conspiracy.

Now, getting back to Comey... why hasn't he been held to account for his poor investigation into HRC's e-mail server? He downplayed the potential compromise of 'codeword' compartmentalized info that regular schlubs are liable for heavy fines and imprisonment. Actual crimes may have been committed, and he let them pass.

I don’t think Pence fired Flynn, he resigned....Pence was the leader of the transition team during this period...he is either lying and

Flynn got fired, or it was a forced resignation... leave or else. He lied about his discussion with the ambassador to Pence. Trump or Pence may have made the call, it doesn't matter. I guess the question now is if he did it on his own, or by orders. It may be that he was told to do it, but unless there is recorded proof, it will be he-said-he-said (or she-said) .

Flynn was recorded talking to the ambassador, and he denied it to the agent. Why he was unmasked should be investigated. If the unmasking was illegal, his plea would be moot, as it came from the fruit of the poisoned tree.

In the end Flynn was caught in a lie, twice. He shouldn't have talked to the FBI agent in the first place, without counsel. Powerful people aren't always careful.

exactly. and what most simpletons egged on by the lying, politically motivated mass media don't understand is: collusion is NOT ILLEGAL! There's no crime, even if it was somehow proved Trump himself got together with Putin and said "let's work together to beat HilLIARy".

and this crying about "attempting to influence an election"? What the hell do people think negative advertising (usually with some outright lies featured prominently), campaigning by your opposition is trying to do? What do they think lobbyists and PACs are for?

the funniest part is there was never proof a single VOTE was tampered or altered by any hacking, and Jill Stein even forced some states Trump won to do recounts- and Trump won by bigger margins in the recounts.

Finally, suppose some number of voters were influenced to vote 1 way or the other by Russian instigated propaganda- even tens of thousands- IT DIDN'T WORK TO ELECT TRUMP! HilLIARy won the popular vote by 4+ million votes, LOL. Trump won in the Electoral College (even though the crying Democrats tried to sabotage that vote too at many levels) and there has NEVER, EVER been a single accusation or suggestion or even comment that somehow the Russians influenced a single Electoral vote!

This is much ado about nothing! Sore losers, whiners and crybabies who thought they rigged the system so HilLIARy couldn't lose- but she still did, and they can't get over it. And the best part may be if they do somehow find a way to remove Trump, Pence takes over and he's FAR more Conservative than Trump- which is fine by me! Take out Trump AND Pence- ok, far-fetched, but OK- then Paul Ryan takes over and can finally slice and dice domestic spending and put us on a course to balanced budgets and living within our means and stop the expansion of the Socialist Nanny State once and for all. Looks like a win/win/win proposition to me!

And a Very Merry Christmas to all!

you do know it is expected and traditional in our history that transition teams ALWAYS reach out to foreign governments and leaders ahead of the actual swearing in to maintain continuity of policy at the Global level and avert any big surprises or gaps in information sharing to keep us safe? You can bet the media would be in hysterics if a transition team did NOT establish global relations and contacts quickly- especially in this case where Trump was accused of pursuing an Isolationist agenda and fail on the global stage from Day 1. Some people are acting like "discussing sanctions" proves some Quid Pro Quo when it doesn't. IMO, it doesn't even rise to the level of Obama caught on a hot microphone telling Putin "I'll have more flexibility to deal after I'm re-elected". He got a pass on that 1 and others because he doesn't have the R after his name.

There's just nothing to see here and time to move on.

you mean, other than wasting millions of tax payer dollars just to keep a partisan cloud of suspicion over Trump after finding ZERO evidence of any collusion? The majority of political and legal analysts from both sides of the aisle are now in agreement Mueller and team have absolutely nothing or there would have been charges related to collusion already. Instead they are angling to find something they can label 'obstruction of justice' that can lead to their end goal of an impeachment filing instead of criminal charges. They are basing it on the facts of which charges have been brought and plead to already- none had to do with illegal colluding with Russians by Trump in a coordinated effort to tilt the election.

I read somewhere that Mueller has spent more in his short investigation than the 2 year Bengazi investigation. Now we find out that the agent in charge of the investigation on HRC's e-mail server was the same guy who was questioning Flynn and was in Mueller team, until anti-trump texts were found between him and another member of Muellers teams. This guy changed the language on the statement that Comey read to avoid direct comparison against the handling statute on classified materials.

AG Sessions should unrecuse himself and hold Mueller accountable. Stop wasting our money.
