My favorite funny scene was with Chewy being diet shamed.
Han solo had plot armor. Although he shouldnt have. He shouldve been killed in Return of the Jedi like he wanted

    • I can't put imitation corporate Starwars ahead of the prequel Trilogy.

These new ones definitely have you turn your brain off more and do tons of things for plot convenience that don't really make much sense at all.

I can enjoy these new films and this one was more original than the Force Awakens in my book and for that I enjoyed it more. They are both better than Rogue One in my book.

      Rankings

      1. Classic Trilogy 6, 4, 5

      2. Prequel Trilogy 3, 1, 2

      3. Sequel Trilogy 8, 7

      • Watched "Three Billboards", due to the Oscar buzz. It will probably win Best Picture, and the acting is great. Frances McDormand is amazing, not quite up to the Fargo performance, but close. I liked Woody Harrellson as well, it seems like he plays two different characters here. The overall plot is fine, it's kind of interesting, but ultimately just "revenge". On the other hand, it seems like the director tries too hard to make it a 'coen' movie, and seems overly stereotypical... the stuff that Hollywood and Europe actually believe. It makes me glad that Ebbing, MO (or a town like it) doesn't exist. I guess if you want to be depressed... watch this movie.

        • My rankings of the Best Picture nominees of the ones I've seen

          1. Shape of Water
          2. Three Billboards outside Ebbing Missouri
          3. Darkest Hour
          4. Dunkirk
          5. Get Out

To be honest, none of these movies stand out as a 'classic, but are very good'. Either Shape of Billboards should win, but Get Out might sneak in. I'd rewatch Dunkirk, as the editing style is interesting, and the aerial photography is amazing. The acting of Frances McDormand, Gary Oldman and Allison Janney (in I, Tonya) stand out, but if I had a ballot, I liked Woody Harrelson as the best supporting actor over Sam Rockwell.

          • I guess my favorite movie of the year was Brigsby Bear.
To be honest, it seemed like kind of an unremarkable year for movies in general.
Well, this movie called Assholes was certainly something I won't forget any time soon though... not that that was a good thing.

              • What's the deal with Black Panther reviews? That movie is so-so at best.
I was jacked to see this movie after seeing the trailer. The new suit and the action looked awesome.
Then the reviews made this sound like the greatest superhero movie of all time.
I got stoned and brought a lot of friends. But, damn. The best scenes were in the trailer.
All the jokes were bad. The actor's accent was fake. The main fight scene was lame.
The movie had some redeeming qualities. The background in Africa was nice. Those bald chicks with the spears were badass. The suit was still cool. And the bad guy was well acted and had a good background story that gave the movie a neat theme. Unfortunately he was out of the movie for so long, I forgot he was in it for a while.
Anyway - disappointment. I blame the reviews. If I had gone in thinking this movie would be so-so, I would have got what I expected and would have had more fun.

                • I saw The Shape of Water while stoned. The scenery was awesome. The acting was great. The dialog and characters were cool. But there was one scene I found so gross that it made the rest of the movie anticlimactic to me. In that way, this was very much like Deliverance.

Did the scene have to do something with a cat?

                • So best movie for me this past year I thought was the Three Billboards Outside wherever. Great characters. Great acting. Funny. Sad. Angering. All that good stuff.

Then I saw that Get Out was one of the nominees for best whatever Oscar. I saw that so long ago and was so super stoned that my memory of the movie was: fake white people, brainwashed black guy in a hat comes to his senses sometimes, scary-as-fuck white people, weird trip down a hole for the main character, holy shit, get the fuck out. Wow. I had the perfect mix of weed edible and movie. So this is now my movie of the year, but it probably had a lot to do with my diet.

                  • Three Billboards was awesome. Really liked The Killing Of A Sacred Dear. If you can handle the same drab style of acting we saw in The Lobster. Another great movie.

                    • I didnt think 3 Billboards was all that great. Awesome acting job with some outstanding dialogue. But the story wasn't better than a b-movie

                    • Super stoned today. Saw Annihilation. I give this an A for originality. Lead actress is always good. I walked out saying I liked it.

However, my girlfriend, who wasn't stoned, pointed out a bunch of holes in the script including one cheesy use of modern special effects that didn't fit . So, overall, I say this movie gets a B.

                      • Triple stoned tonight. I watched the latest Avengers movie in 3D. Fuck yea. Lots of action. I don't think I knew who all the superheroes were or why things were happening; I just knew that everything that happened was cool. Well, except for this one stupid love scene, which was the ideal time to take a piss.

Oh, word of advice: the part after the credits isn't worth sticking around for.

                        • Some movies I've seen lately (all of them while super stoned - these edibles these days are insane). I put the movies in order of greatness.

                          1. That documentary about Mr. Rogers. It was great to be stoned and be around a bunch of nice people who wanted to watch a story about a nice TV man. I hate to spoil the movie, but it turns out Mr. Rogers was awesome. This movie gets four Foutsies out of five.

                          2. That Star Wars movie about Han Solo. Fucking rad. The story was predictable, but what did people expect? The new Han is totally Han like. And the action is on fire. Just make sure you are stoned when you arrive. Because I was stoned, this movie gets three Foutsies and a fourth-round pick. If I weren't stoned, it would probably be two Foutsies.

                          3. Ladybird. I didn't watch this in the theater despite the rave reviews from everybody I know. I just hate movies about high school kids or kids in general. While I still hate most movies about high school kids, I didn't hate watching this one at home. It was pretty funny. Three Foutsies.

                          4. The new Jurassic Park. Action was on fire. Plus, I'm always excited to point out Charlie Chaplin's daughter on screen and say I've seen her in a bunch of Spanish movies. Dialogue is as stupid as all the other Jurassic Parks. And, if Star Wars's plot was predictable and based on something awesome, the plot in the new Jurassic Park is predictable and based on a whole lot of other garbage plots. The action deserves four Foutsies. The plot deserves a Spanos. So that averages out to somewhere well below zero.

                          5. I know I saw something else, but I can't remember what it was.

#5 was Memento, but since it came out back in 2000, it got 3.5 Harbaughs & a Moses Moreno.

                        • I saw Ant Man and the Wasp. You should only see this movie if you meet one of the following conditions:

                          1. You have seen the first one multiple times and would like to see the same jokes told in a different way.

                          2. You didn't see the first Ant Man.

I didn't meet the conditions so I shouldn't have seen the second one.

                          • This real-life Arizona Dust Storm gets a Norv. The fire I had to report and the flying tree were intense. I love the lightning, but the lack of WiFi and the interment A/C loss are annoying. This isn't like my experience with Hurricane Isabel, which was somewhere between a Leaf and a Spanos.

Enjoyed it! It wasn't great, and it was kind of cliche' super hero movie, but it was fun, and I enjoyed myself.
