    Kennan Allen Claims Hes 85%

Going into this draft with him not sounding like hes completely healthy might suggest that a WR is a high priority. Even before this news i got the vibe that WR might be high on the list. Its a deep draft at the Position. A guy like Samuel who could eat up a lot of the plays Woody ran as well as line up and do all the same things Benjamin does makes sense to me. Cut Benjamin after this year. His dead money hit is around 2 mil. Samuel can also play outside. IMO one of the better playmakers in the draft with a ton of versatility. Returner as well.

Keenan Allen (ACL) estimates he's at 85 percent health.
Allen will be babied along through the offseason program, but remains on pace to be full go for training camp. Allen heads into 2017 having appeared in just 9-of-32 games over the past two seasons, but his upside remains palpable as Philip Rivers' No. 1 receiver.

ACLs take time to get back to full strength. I think Allen will fight through it but I do think another young WR in top 3 rounds is wise. If we trade down from 7 for a mid first and a 2nd (if opportunity arrises) I think a WR makes a lot of sense in the 2nd, otherwise we still have a lot of needs and defense and OT are of high need.

If we miss Hooker, Adams and Thomas im starting to lean Davis. I believe he would have run in the low 4.4's. Maybe 4.3's. At 6'3, 210# hes a load. His film is amazing.

I would love one of the top 4 safeties out of this draft plus an OT. Id pit a DT before WR too but if its BAA and a real stud WR is there I get it. Just think we build the OL and we can extend Rivers time.

Id like a potential franchise type player at #7. I think Davis can be that type of dominant WR. I dont see any OL in this draft that make me think the way i do about Adams, Hooker, Garrett, Thomas and Davis.

Im definitely no opposed to trading back and grabbing OL in the 1st.

If we miss Hooker, Adams and Thomas, it probably means that Allen has fallen. And since I'm a BPA guy, especially BPA at position of need, I'm all over him.

And there is so much upward momentum for other players, I'm thinking Allen drops.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

Id be cool with Allen as well. Hes definitely in my cluster. Be a nice 3T with Bosa at 5T. Ingram at Leo. I guess Toomer would end up at SAM. Thats good speed at the SAM spot.

Davis is my top WR this draft. I just think there is way too much DL and Safety talent early. There is quite a bit of WR depth in this draft. I think the 7 overall will be Defense unless we trade down then it will be oline. I know I sound like a broken record but our offensive line is a mess.

I can totally see them draft a WR. Not sure when or what round...but it certainly seems like it could be an area they look to improve.

(Personally, I'm hoping they wait a year, and take my Jackrabbit Jake Weineke)

If Keenan can't stay out there for 14-16 games this year we need to move on. His injuries were serious and unfortunate but the guy needs to be on the field. #1 WR does us no good in street clothes

I think this is overrated. The passing game was fine when he was out. It could be better, but we can move the ball in the air with the WR we have.

Would I take a WR if the right one was available? Yes. I would have done it regardless of Allen's health. only 1 WR is useless. They have to be used in pairs (or triples). The #1 WR is a myth that fans love to believe in, but any decent defense can take a single WR away.

There is no WR in the draft who is going to come in and play at a level that is anywhere close to what Allen can play at. They don't have the developed skills and route running. In time, we might be able to get someone to develop, but you don't find guys like that in every draft.

I think Williams, who just finished his 1st season (was just a PS guy the year before), and Benjamin are both ascending players. Both have flaws, but every young player does. Both have the speed that can stretch the field and catch short passes. They will continue to get better. I'm not worried about them, even though both were somewhat disappointing last season.

The real issue is still the OL. Any team can neutralize our passing game by collapsing the pocket. We can score points off play action, but only if the running game ever gets cranked up. We cannot sustain drives running. We lose too many yards on a high percentage of our running plays. I love our RB, but you have to let them get started.

I'm not opposed to trading down and adding OL, but I don't think it is an immediate help. Maybe at OG, but even the OG class is not that great. I love Lamp, but the rest are just not that exciting. I think we need to find a way to grab guys, hold onto them a couple of years and develop them. They could develop fast, it seems like a few mid-round guys are day one starters who then hold the position for 10 years, but the vast majority of guys take a year or two and that is getting worse not better. But if we don't add them some year, it seems like it never happens. NFL rosters are just not set up to develop players. THey are set up to get a team through the season.
