He lived long, and prospered. RIP, Mr. Spock. I almost can't think of a bigger (human being) television icon. The first Star Trek pilot was named "The Cage", later released as a 2-part episode called "The Menagerie" during the 1st season (or was it the other way around?). Nimoy was the only character, I believe, who became a regular series actor when the show went prime time. I was 10 when they started filming that first pilot.Last edited by QSmokey; 02-27-2015, 12:06 PM.

The character Spock is definitely one of the most influential to TV and the Sci-fi genre. Just going back to when Star Trek first broadcast, the other competitor was "Lost in Space", and imagine what TV and life would be if that's like. The success of the franchise was due to Roddenberry's vision, but that single character, made being "logical" cool, and the show compelling.
I grok Spock.

Agree, truly an icon. Some of his great lines are popping into my head. One of my favorites from Star Trek IV, "To hunt a species to extinction is not logical". And although not from Spock my all-time favorite from that movie was delivered by Admiral Kirk when referring to Mr. Spock, "Oh, him? He's harmless. Back in the sixties, he was part of the free speech movement at Berkeley. I think he did a little too much LDS". RIP Leonard Nimoy.Last edited by Geezbolt; 02-27-2015, 11:20 AM.
