Because the NFL may force dean back.

A better scenario would be if the NFL forced Dean to sell to Manchester.

Now THAT sounds like a plan!
Is Manchester wealthy enough to afford an NFL team?

If he's offering to pay for a whole stadium and develop the surrounding land I'm sure he is.

Manchester may be doing this as a big cock-block to the FS dudes.
            Prediction:
            Correct: Chargers CI fails miserably.
Fail: Team stays in San Diego until their lease runs out in 2020. (without getting new deal done by then) .
Sig Bet WIN: The Chargers will file for relocation on January 15.

Big tent theory, everybody welcome As far as selling, seems like more than 1/2 the observers/commentators on the LA move think that is EXACTLY the reason Deano moved- to increase team value and sell for huge profit. It's possible at some point the Chargers are owned by someone else and who knows if the timing or opportunity would be right for a return to SD with new owners, so Manchester wouldn't want to preclude the possibility of working with "the Chargers" in the future. I didn't read the letter, but did he say he would be happy to work with Spanos, or "The Chargers"? That might seem like semantics, but could be a tell.

Best case scenario out of this would be to sell to Manchester. Lets hope this happens.

Would be nice if the NFL stepped in and mediated a sale.

As an alternative to the recently unveiled SoccerCity plan in Mission Valley, developer Doug Manchester is working on a proposal to remodel Qualcomm Stadium for professional soccer, football and the Aztecs; build an NBA sports arena; and provide for a lower-density housing and commercial…
