    Welcome Jered Weaver

About 13 years too late. Throwing in the mid 80s, not sure what he has left in the tank. They'd probably be better off acquiring Matt Bush.

This dude was awesome in college. In the pros, it looks like three years ago, he was still awesome. Last year, his ERA was 5.06 and he finished 12-12 for a team that finished below .500. He pitched in 31 games and averaged 5.7 innings. It sounds like he'll be a'ight - maybe like how Fernando was mas-o-menos for a couple years for us?

Ross had some kind of thoracic surgery that might end his career. I agree with letting Ross go but feel Weaver is another Padre move like Piazza and Maddox, a few years too late.

If Weaver can just make his starts that will be something. We don't have many workhorses in the rotation any more.

Did we have a better option? I mean, we are one of the shittiest teams in baseball. It's not like signing Weaver makes us worse. It could be a good thing, or it could be nothing at all.

Angels fan here. Weaver is an absolute battler. His 2 seam and 4 seam FB are gone, but he does have several other pitches and guile.
Fly balls in small parks destroy him, so Petco is the place for him to revive whatever he can.
I think he will eat a ton of innings for you, and lead by example.
Fun to watch in a close game. I loved this dude when he was with us, despite the HRs allowed.

if this gig doesn't work out for him, at least he has the chain of jewelry stores to fall back on.
