    7. Los Angeles Chargers: Mike Williams, WR, Clemson

The 6-foot-4 Williams had 1,361 yards receiving last season, third in school history behind current NFL standouts Sammy Watkins (1,464) and DeAndre Hopkins (1,405).

Quick take: Williams, a great jump-ball receiver, could be the next iteration of Vincent Jackson or Malcom Floyd for Philip Rivers.

      The Wang Man:

With the No. 7 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft, the Chargers selected Mike Williams. Here’s a quick look at the team’s newest player.

      MIKE WILLIAMS, Clemson

      Position: Receiver

      Height, weight: 6-4, 218

The skinny: Williams was regarded as one of the top receivers available, though he ended up going two spots after Western Michigan’s Corey Davis. The Clemson star has great size, and the body control to beat defenders to the ball — particularly in the end zone.

The fit: The Chargers’ have a talented receiver in Keenan Allen, but the former third-round pick has missed most of the last two seasons due to injuries. Now, the Bolts get some insurance, and another weapon to help maximize their window of contention with quarterback Philip Rivers.

The concerns: Williams has struggled at times with drops, and doesn’t always create immediate separation. He also suffered a neck fracture in 2015.

Strength is an underestimated quality in a WR. Think, M. Williams, T. Williams, Henry, Allen, and Benjamin. Who do you cover, and with whom?

Mayock said. "What is he? He's an outside the numbers fade, fade stop, back shoulder, red-zone guy."
And about that FADE ROUTE Mr Mayock...

(From an NYGiants site dumping on Eli Manning) Every time some idiot calls a fade route in the end zone, the announcer is like, "Well, it’s man coverage, so it’s a 50/50 shot!" No, it’s not. The Big Lead did a loose study on the fade route and estimated that only 25% of fade routes to the end zone are successful. It’s not 50/50, and it certainly isn’t 50/50 when Eli Manning has already thrown a zillion picks and you’re making the tight end climb the ladder for a ball that’s not even in the corner of the end zone. Any offensive coordinator who calls three fade routes in a row should be remanded to working a toll booth. Forever. No more fade routes.

Perhaps going for the best talent might be better than getting cute, at least Lynch sees it that way. Lynch actually knows Solomon Thomas and took a class with him. That was his pick the whole time and he knew how to fleece Chicago. Pretty savvy move for an inexperienced neophyte that I have yet to see TT make...
I'm quite sure TT would have taken Thomas if he was available. He wasn't...

Yes it would've been nice with either Thomas, Adams or Allen...

How much does the Spani collective influence/handcuff TT?

In their quest to "Capture the LA market" offense wins fans, people want to see points... Do the Spani force TT's hand with their typical idiotic football management.

Nothing will ever change with the Spani at the helm. yes, rince and repeat

Thomas was gone, Allen may not make it to a 2nd contract with that shoulder and TT doesn't value safeties high. Not sure how much Spanii are influencing anything.

Not a bad pick. Rivers has very few years left. Give him all the weapons you can
