I wonder if they try Tuerk at RT. Unless the ACL is still an issue I think he makes the roster. He's too versatile to let go. Wiggins may be the odd man out on the interior. I think they keep Slauson since he can back up all 3 interior spots and provides veteran leadership to a suddenly very young unit. The best news is that there are enough players that now there will actually be competitions on the OL instead of people falling into starting roles, that alone should help improve the unit as a whole.

Here are the Spotrac pages for
Barksdale & Franklin
If I'm reading this right, keeping Barksdale for this season and then dumping him next season lowers his dead cap number from 6 million to 2 million. If I were TT, I think I would do that.
Ok wait, after June 1, Barksdale's # drops to 4 Mil? WTF am I doing with these numbers?

It would save us a lot more in terms of cap, although we could swing it. It would just use most of our remaining cap space (minus what we need to sign rookies and injury replacements).
Barksdale costs us $450 k if we cut him prior to June 1st. Saves us $1.5 mill after.
I see Barksdale as the starting RT, not because he is any good, but a lack of other options, and the desire to not have rookies starting next to each other. I think the current offensive staff is OK with 2nd best type of guys at OT, given that we will rely so much on quick passing and trying to run. So long as they don't get beat inside, it gives Rivers a chance to get rid of it before the rush gets there. That is what NO has empahsized for all of Sean Payton's stint as a HC.
The OL I would like to see, but won't happen.
RT - Okung/Hairston
RG - Feeney (R)/Wiggins
C - Pulley/Tuerk
LG - Slausson/Wiggins
LT -Lamp (R)/Hairston
I like both scenarios you present. I first thought that Lamp would end up at RT. But then we drafted Freeney and i almost considered it a lock. But it may not happen. I completely agree with moving Freeney to the opposite side of where Lamp is though. 2 rookies next to each other could be an issue.
