    Los Angeles Chargers: Russell Okung shifts conversation about racial issues

    When it comes to the social activism that has been largely prevalent among athletes throughout recent years, the Chargers have mostly flown under the radar. The 49ers, Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, and former St. Louis Rams are NFL teams that tend to be associated with acts of protesting.
    Protesting during sporting events is nothing new, yet even after all these years, it remains to be a controversial topic with no clear solution. The major conflict that surrounds this argument seems to revolve around an unspoken rule that politics should be kept out of sports.
    Former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick turned a deaf ear to the widespread belief that athletes should not be political by refusing to stand during the national anthem to protest racial injustice.
