Should the Denver Broncos Shut Down Wes Welker Until the Playoffs? (Yahoo Contributor

COMMENTARY | The offseason acquisition of Wes Welker was made to bolster an already stellar offensive unit by providing Peyton Manning with an elite slot receiver, a position he's always clicked so well with throughout his career. Through thirteen games, Welker has already amassed 73 receptions for 778 yards. Those numbers might not leap off a stat sheet in a league where fourteen players have already eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the season, especially when you consider that Welker's still impressive statistical season places him only third in yards (behind Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker) and receiving touchdowns (behind D. Thomas and Julius Thomas) on his own team. The Broncos clinched their spot in the playoffs with last weekend's resounding victory over the Tennessee Titans, a game that saw Welker sustain his second concussion of the season and will likely keep him out of Thursday night's divisional tilt with the San Diego Chargers.
