Florida, FSU’s terrible records explained by this one play

If you’re wondering how Florida and Florida State both ended up 4-6 entering their rivalry game on Saturday, look no further than this play.Gators freshman quarterback Feleipe Franks was intercepted by Matthew Thomas on the first play of Florida’s possession down 31-16. Unfortunately, Thomas stumbled and was ruled down at the one, missing a touchdown despite having a clear field in front of him. Mix in a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct, and FSU was pushed back to the 16 instead of having a touchdown. They ended up scoring anyhow, but not before making it so much harder on themselves.
