    Former UGA coach Mark Richt receives contract extension from Miami

    Breaking up is a hard thing to do, but sometimes it truly is what is best for both parties.
    That theory seems to apply in the case of both the Georgia football program and former coach Mark Richt.
    The long-time Georgia coach received some good news on Thursday morning, as it was announced that the Miami Hurricanes have extended his contract through the 2023 football season. Financial terms were not disclosed in the release.
    “Mark has done a phenomenal job of building this program – and generating enthusiasm for this program – since the day he arrived back on campus,” Miami athletic director Blake James said via official release. “We look forward to continued success under his watch, both on and off the field, for many years to come.”
    Richt has posted a 19-7 record through two seasons in Coral Gables, Fla. after being let go by the Bulldogs after the 2015 season.
