Pitt, Penn State may not play again until 2030

Pitt and Penn State are set to play each other in the next two college football seasons, but the rivalry could be put on hold for a while after that. The two Pennsylvania programs do not have a meeting on their schedules beyond 2019. Pitt’s AD said last month that she had a proposal for a four-game series beginning in 2026 sent over to Penn State. However, the Nittany Lions haven’t signed it.It doesn’t sound like they will, either.Penn State AD Sandy Barbour said Tuesday that they probably wouldn’t look to resume the series until after 2030.“I think at this point we’ve both agreed that based on Big Ten and ACC scheduling principles — and it’s a complicating puzzle nowadays — that we’re probably not going to do anything at this point,” Barbour said, via the Centre Daily Times. The programs have met 98 times, with Penn State leading 51-43-4. The programs went through another period where they didn’t meet after 2000 until the four-game series began in 2016. It looks like things will be put on hold once again.
