Tennessee State LB Christion Abercrombie hits another major milestone in recovery

It has been over a month since Christion Abercrombie suffered a horrific head injury in a game against Vanderbilt, and the Tennessee State linebacker continues to make strides in his lengthy recovery. Earlier this week, Abercrombie’s mother Staci provided another encouraging update on Twitter. She said that Christion, who was previously using a feeding tube, was able to eat his first meal by mouth since he was rushed to the hospital nearly six weeks ago. Abercrombie collapsed after exiting TSU’s game against Vanderbilt on Sept. 29 and was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center for emergency surgery. He was listed in critical condition in the ensuing hours and days. He was upgraded to stable condition a little over two weeks after being admitted, and his mother has been providing encouraging updates throughout the recovery process. The injury Abercrombie suffered was obviously devastating, but it’s great to see him keeping taking steps in the right direction. Here’s hoping that trend continues.
