There remains a lot of conjecture over Kyler Murray’s potential NFL future, but his family may prove to be a bit of a wild card. Bleacher Report draft expert Matt Miller told the Stick to Football podcast that some NFL insiders have concerns about Murray’s father, with one going as far as to compare him to LaVar Ball. “He’s still going in the first [round], but he needs to get a f–king agent and do it the right way,” one source told Miller. A second referred to Murray’s father as “LaVar Ball all over again” and suggested that Murray’s public indecision over his future was a ploy to get more money out of the Oakland Athletics. It’s a window into the perception of Murray within the league. There’s a general consensus that he’ll be a first-round pick, but his height, his family, and some bad looks publicly ensure that there are going to be questions about him if he does indeed try to pursue a football career.
