Mississippi State coach Mike Leach has scored an early coup by landing a quality quarterback to lead his program. Stanford graduate transfer K.J. Costello announced on Instagram that he has decided to transfer to Mississippi State for his final year of eligibility. This is a huge get for Leach and the Bulldogs. Costello was a second-team All-Pac 12 selection in 2018, throwing for 3,540 yards and 29 touchdowns. He was limited by concussion and thumb issues in 2019 and split time with redshirt sophomore Davis Mills before announcing his intent to transfer in December. Costello might have been the biggest prize among graduate transfer quarterbacks. He figures to start immediately, and considering the kind of numbers quarterbacks put up in Leach’s offenses, Costello could thrive in 2020.
