Former Clemson Tigers star Isaiah Simmons did it all in college. Considered a linebacker, he played in the defensive backfield and even rushed the passer at times. Simmons has been trending upward in recent weeks leading up to NFL Scouting Combine. There’s now no question about his status as a top-10 pick after what we saw Saturday in Indianapolis. The skinny: Even before taking part in the 40-yard dash, Simmons was showing out in a big way during Saturday’s combine. But once Simmons put up a 4.39 40-yard, it was all taken to a whole new level. All said, Simmons’ performance in Indy was among the best we’ve seen from a defender in some time. Simmons’ 40 time was the second-fastest for an off-ball linebacker in combine history, behind only Shaquem Griffin back in 2018.
