[The Score] - Report: Angels, reliever Luis García agree to 1-year, $4.25M deal

The Los Angeles Angels bolstered their bullpen by agreeing to a one-year, $4.25-million contract with reliever Luis García, Jeff Fletcher of SoCal News Group reports.Completion of the deal is pending a physical.García spent the last two seasons with the San Diego Padres, where he served primarily as a middle reliever. In 2023, he posted a 4.07 ERA, 4.29 FIP, and 1.39 WHIP with 53 strikeouts in 61 appearances. García excelled at limiting the long ball, allowing only six home runs in 59.2 innings. The 36-year-old brings some much-needed experience to the Angels' bullpen behind closer Carlos Estévez. This will be García's second stint with the Angels, having previously pitched for the team in 2019.García - who is not to be confused with the similarly named Houston Astros starter or the Washington Nationals infielder - owns a lifetime 4.05 ERA, 3.98 FIP, and 1.43 WHIP with 446 strikeouts over 485 big-league appearances with five teams. He helped the Padres to an NLCS appearance in 2022.
