[NBC Sports Bay Area] - Report: Snell, Giants agree to two-year, $62M contract with opt-out

It appears the Giants aren’t done adding just yet … A few weeks after agreeing to a three-year, $54 million , San Francisco has agreed to a two-year, $62 million free-agent contract with left-handed pitcher and reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell on The New York Post’s Jon Heyman reported. The agreement between the Giants and Snell includes an opt out. Snell provides the Giants with a co-ace alongside right-handed pitcher Logan Webb atop the rotation and fortifies a pitching staff that might be , Alex Cobb and Robbie Ray for a portion of the 2024 MLB season’s first half. The 31-year-old Snell posted a 14-9 record with a 2.25 ERA and 234 strikeouts to a career-high 99 walks in 180 innings pitching for the San Diego Padres last season. Snell and Webb finished first and second, respectively, for the Cy Young Award in 2023, and now team up to provide the Giants with a lethal one-two punch. By agreeing to a contract with the Giants, Snell reunites with former Padres manager Bob Melvin and caps off a very productive offseason for San Francisco.
