oh. I still don't think Mason's age is a notable reason to draft him. His talent is.

There's a chance Loveland makes it to 22! There's a lot of mocks with the chargers drafting Loveland at 22! However if he's close they could pull off a trade up and do a Ladd for him if they believe he's the best TE in the draft!

Until he fails, he has the benefit of doubt...from me, anyway...

If we pick a player at #22, that alot of boards have ranked early second round, I wont consider it a "reach"...Ill just figure they got their target.
Fair enough. I also don't see Hortiz doing anything nuts with pick 22. I won't judge our draft (this is BS) until we've played the coming season. I'll try not anyway. W-L's are all that count.

“I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the 2 best, most successful QBs of the past 20 years had elite TE’s. And it’s because that TE production is the most difficult to scheme for as a defense. TE’s that can work the middle of the field and know how to fit into those voids and create space and it’s impossible to even double team them. It’s easy to throw a safety over Jamar Chase, where do you throw a safety over a 7 yard ‘out-route’ or into the flat?!?!? It’s impossible. It gets more difficult and the TE starts taking away resources from other threats.”

His age sure doesn’t hurt. Either of them.

I agree that W-L’s are what matter. But If you don’t judge how can you say I told ya later?

Come on. It’s an entertainment business, not a religion. Hortiz’s could give a crap what you or I think.

I think he’s done a very good job so far but being an armchair GM is all part of the fun of following sports.

Around half of the mock drafts still believe it.

I still remember the Senior Bowl, when everyone jumped on the Elijah Arroyo bandwagon. People were talking about taking him in the 1st round. Now? People act like he doesn't exist, and if we miss out on Taylor we're boned. Taylor is looking a lot like Arroyo right now: like the flavor of the month.

True. Beat the chiefs with dominant trenches.

I get your thought. It seems like fans get obsessed on certain players over their own assessments, and what usually follows is they get their hearts ripped out on draft day when that player goes to another team!

I let that go a long time ago! Would be happy if we got Taylor but I would be just as happy initially if we got Terrance Ferguson in the 3rd, or Jackson Hawes later in the draft for his epic blocking ability! The odds are we won't get any of them....

though I think the latter two would be gone

Taylor - probably would like better a few spots down but that comes with risk of somebody jumping to get him
Those are 3 of the 5 in my cluster for Saturday’s mock draft. Putting a 5 man cluster together is harder than you think. Who do you leave off?
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
                        Let’s win one for Mack.

We’re 9 days out and the consensus is Taylor is clearly the #3 TE. Nobody’s talking about those other players cause they’ve gone through this progression and everyone’s rankings have tightened up as we near the draft.

The consensus is Warren goes top 10 and Loveland doesn’t make it past 14.

Id love to get Loveland. But that’s becoming a pipe dream.
Again, even Harbaugh when questioned about Loveland said he’s probably playing for another team.
