All star guys are normally have trouble throwing downfield. THey don't really know the offense. THey didn't study the D. THey don't have any chemistry with the receivers. They don't trust the OL yet.
The big knock against Shimonek is that he just hasn't played very much. But at least it is not a Matt Cassel thing. He started most of the games his senior year after Mahommes left for KC. He is a good athlete with some arm talent and awareness of where people are and moveing the ball around. He has done the 2minute drills a few times and won some OT games. He is not great, but he isn't horrible. If you develop him, I think there is something there. Remember, Tom Brady was not a finished product at this stage of the game either. At this stage he is a little older and more mature than most college QB and has some leadership qualities.
