    Rashad Penny highlights

I know we won't take him, but man I loved watching him play for my Aztecs.

    Okay, I'm onboard!
Maybe take him in round 2 and pick up a few mid round picks for Gordon?

Definitely a stud with SDSU. Not only do I want him on this team, I think we need him to make our STs a threat every time he touches the ball, and would be a great complement at RB with Gordon and Ekeler.

I'm hoping TT takes him too. IM Afraid it will take our second round pic to get him and I think that's to high for a return specialist that will give MGIII a rest now and then...

How about if Penny turned out to be as productive as Kamara at RB, plus was our returner? He surely has the potential, and was more productive than Kamara was in college. Would it be worth a 2nd rounder? I'm more bullish on it now, since the signing of Pouncey.

You figure ten carries a game and return duty. It's like drafting a two down DT in round one. You can do it but do you really get value over that third-fourth guy who can fill that same roll? To take him at 48 you almost have to go committee at RB and MGIII can do it all but he gets slumpy in goal line. Penny doesn't fill that three yards and a cloud of dust goal line inside RB and that's as big of a need as returner if you ask me. I like Penny in the third alot better.

Oh god, it would be awesome if we got this guy. It's the main missing piece on offense IMO.

I am having a hard time getting a good feel on RB in this year's draft. Traditionally, teams favor big, fast guys. Then in this year's draft, you have Hunt and Kamara, and now I am wondering if NFL teams will finally rethink how they evaluate RB.

All the teams that play NO and KC are going to spend the offseason evaluating how to stop Kamara and HUnt, so you have to figure they come back down to earth some, but they will still be very productive backs. How can they not, given how many different things they do well. If you look at it that way, Penny is probably going to go a lot higher than a lot of this draft mock guys think.

Traditionally, the highest RB go that high because have great speed, and are pretty big. I wouldn't call Penny big, but traditionally backs who are around 220 tend to be able to handle a lot of the pounding a featured RB takes. He ran a good, 40 at the combine (4.46), and for those of us who could give a shit about the waste of time that is the 40-yard dash, he showed he had enough speed to break long runs on film (and not get caught from behind). He has some nice moves. The only real knocks I have against the guy is that he is an upright runner, which is really just a long-term durability thing, but since RB are disposable, who cares. Level of competition is another thing people whine about, but Hunt came out of the MAc, and a lot of RB have come from smaller schools. The big thing that makes or breaks college RB is how fast they pick up pass protection, and you have no way of knowing if they can make the jump from college to pro until you see them do it.

If NFL teams stop using their old evaluation, and start looking at who is successful and how they have that success, Penny go a lot higher than a lot of teams traditionally view him. I really think he would be a perfect fit for us if he is still around when we draft in the 2nd.
