You dont draft for need, thats what FA is for. If the Chargers thought Tillery was the BPA then fine take him but they better be right.

The rumors will persist about Rosen, but TT said in his presser before the draft that there was nothing there. If TT said we are not interested, then I don't think there is any interest there.

The thing that is starting to bother me is the Chris Jones comparisons with Jones. Yes, the PFF grades for the players are similar. But when you watch them play, they are very different types of players. Jones gets a lot of penetration off of great initial quickness. Tillery is a combination of size, speed, and leverage. Both come in with consistency problems, which are caused by technique problems. Jones overcame his technique problems fairly quickly, I expect Tillery to improve in those areas too. A lot of college players are weak in those areas and they get a lot better.

If you listen to both TT pre-draft press conference and his post-1st round press conference one, he mentioned that they only had 1st round grades on about 20 players this year (there are never 32 players with 1st round grades). Tillery was one of the few left on the board with a 1st round grade when we drafted at 28. He was one that they really liked (an extension of the BPA thing a).

There were other players we liked at the top of the draft, but unless you are prepared to trade the whole draft or the teams future, there is just about no way to land those other players. I am not sure we got the best player since there are so many that I like at the top of the 1st round, but I do think we added a player who really compliments the players we have (thinking Ingram and Bosa here).

I'd like to see them go FS, OL in Day 2 but I wouldn't be too upset to see them Go TE, LB or double up on DL

After watching the playoffs I last year I have to think you're correct in going defense. But wouldn't surprise me if we took another DT in one of those.
