  • Opening Day GDT

    Today's reality check.

Kershaw, the Dodgers’ ace and three-time National League Cy Young Award winner, will earn $33 million this season, the highest salary of any player in the major leagues.

The Padres, in a season that might best be described as “extreme tanking,” have committed to pay $28 million to the 25 players on Monday’s active roster.

On a sidenote, when did we get Chacin and how did he become our opening day starter? I can't read the UT anymore since they finally blocked people who don't subscribe or want spam.

Shocker. I think we will end up having the worst era in baseball this year. I never have any hope for the Padres. Its weird how the Chargers at least try every year to be competitive...and fans hate them when they are losing....but completely accept the mediocrity the Pads roll out every year and still show up. Its crazy to me. Must be an affordability thing?

Never understood that. Padres don't even try but host a picnic, rally or something at the park and you get a lot of, "see that's how its done" from people. Awesome, we got a Matt Kemp t-shirt!

Pads win. I think fourth place would be a reasonable finish for this young squad. I like the direction they're going. The Dogs were picked to win the Series so getting the shutout tonight was great. Patience, grasshopper.

.500 would be a big step in the right direction.
