I forgot who you wanted in that draft. Was it Decastro or one of the other pass rushers?

Maybe the other Mel can put in a good word for Ingram with the Donks...

I would of liked a pass rusher but in the first round that year LB Donte Hightower was my pick and made the most sense for us. I just liked him over Merciles and Ingram and thought he would make a bigger difference.

ah man Jammer! I loved that guy all the way to the end. he had hands of stone but was a tough, physical cb and was great in run support. too bad they never moved him to safety LOL!
also this post was not a dig on the bolts for giving MI the 1st extension, it's more of a "which idiot team will give him his next big contract" post.

OMG thank you. Jammer is an excellent example of getting an Elite player contract and playing at an average maybe above average for the length of his contract. Almost identical IMO.

Loved Jammer but his production never peeked above a "solid" corner.

We're looking for the next Derwin, or Joey. Hell even Hayward. If Murray ends up being that kind of player..... We're in for wild ride this year. You call them "whipping" boys. I call them underachievers. Polar opposite of Ekeler

Speaking of whipping boys, don't forget Gordon...but then, he pretty much handed us all a whip, due to his ill-advised holdout...

Jammer was awesome. And probably one of the best corners in the league from the last half of 2005 to 2010. He earned every bit of his contract. One of the few guys who can shut down Randy Moss. Not to mention other elite receivers at the time like Marvin Harrison, TO, etc.

Jammer's best years were his middle years. His early years, he got burned a lot because he frequently failed to turn his head to locate the rock. His last few years, he just slowed down too much. He was a solid corner in his middle years, but his career effectiveness looked a lot like a bell-shaped curve...

You make it sound like a bell curve is a bad thing. Not everyone starts off great. It took him time but he got better like I said starting in the last 10 games of 2005. And almost every athlete has a decline in the latter years of his career ie. Darrell Revis. Corner is one those positions where it depends so much on athletic abilities. There are exceptions like Charles Woodson. But even he played more of a safety corner hybrid role during his twilight years.

Probably one of the best corners in the league? WOW sorry but not even close. Here. Im too lazy to post but I will link some ELITE corners. Compare them to Jammers and tell me again how he's one of the best. I would take Cromartie over Jammer.

I know stats are not the end all be all. However you can glean about where they truly rank with the best. Jammer never graded higher than an 8. All others had multiple years with double digits ranks. He was never one of the best. Again. He was a journeyman. Like I said solid.

I don't understand why can't get the fact that bell curve means they are AVERAGE PLAYERS. Not exceptional players Elite players are OVER ACHIEVERS and excel at their position. Jammer was never an over achiever.

Jammer is better than Asante Samuel, Cromartie, and Asomugha. Not sure why Harris and Hayward are on there since I said from 2005-2010 but he's better than both of those guys as well. That was too easy. You really do love fancy stats without understanding anything lol.

Edit: also you don't know what a journeyman is. You're not a journeyman if you're the starting CB for one team for the entirety of your career except for the very last one.
